I put together a wicking bucket setup last year and tried it with some daikon radishes. I have a tomato plant in it this year.
I cut a circle out of the OSB that would support the bucket's rim, and cut a hole in the bucket bottom that supports a yogurt container. I lined the yogurt container with landscape fabric and filled it with packed potting soil to act as the wick, then filled the rest of the way with potting soil.
I put a water level indicator (clear vinyl tubing) in the storage container side through a pair of holes. A small fill hole for water is drilled through the OSB, and kept covered to prevent evaporation. Seems to be working well.
