My sweetest hen Hazel Mae passed away. She loved humans, riding around on my shoulder, being carried and don't forget chasing bugs. Just a fun chicken. She has been laying shelless eggs or broken ones for awhile now, so we knew this was coming.I tried everything to no avail. I sure am going to miss her. View attachment 4203224

Didn't do anything in the garden yesterday. Got outside early, went up on the roof and scrubbed the solar panels. 20% production increase! I knew they were dirty, but I didn't think they were that dirty.

We went up to Monterey to go buy a truck. Dealer had it listed online at the price we wanted to pay.... Got up there and they wanted to sell it with a 9000$ markup in service contacts. We wanted to pay 42k otd, for a 39k truck. They tried to sell it to us for 51K.... We tried to negotiate and give them their service warranty, (that cost them ~1800$)... Plus 1500$.... So, otd for 46K. They came back with 48K... So we had to walk away. Sales guy said he's going to keep our offer in front of his manager and that come the end of the month, he may be delivering the vehicle to us personally. I'm going to call on Wednesday, if they still won't sell, we'll buy a nicer truck otd elsewhere for the same price they offered or the exact same trim, same mileage, for the price we want to pay. Just without seeing it in person first.

Picked some Roma tomatoes and a cucumber. Okra is starting to bloom. Made a loaf of whole wheat bread and lemon bars. Yesterday I bought 2 pink slicer tomatoes from a roadside seller. I love pink tomatoes. Slicers for sandwiches. I have enough small tomatoes. Nice weather.

I make hibiscus tea with loose leaf in a gallon of water on the deck with sunshine. Such a beautiful tea

I used to have a lot of hibiscus trees growing as a hedge against one side of my fenced yard. Picking flowers were hard work and the flowers were infested with black ants, so I had to wash each flower separately. Eventually, I paid my nephew to get rid of them. The quality and quantity of dried flowers in the individual tea bags is worth the price on amazon. Its way better than what I was able made.

Watered the garden a little, picked 7 pickling cucumbers, and picked the first half-ripe roma tomato of the year. It's hot and sunny today so I picked it early to prevent sunburn.

Baking a from-scratch pizza now, topped with red bell pepper, shallot and garlic from the garden, tomato sauce and cheese.

I felt bad about leaving all of my white and round black egg plants on the plant without harvesting. I have decided to stop watering them and let them die. I have more than enough Korean style shoyu eggplant pickles and Scillian vinegar salt, and olive oil pickles in the ice box and can't handle anymore.

I pruned back my grafted black beauty eggplant/Devil tree and will try to keep it alive forever.

I got my Hibiscus flower tea from amazon and tried it today. I was impressed with the dark red color of the tea. One tea bag makes 2 cups; It had a citric taste, so I added a teaspoon of regular sugar and a teaspoon of stevia and turned it into a high blood pressure beverage. I am making an all-out attempt to lower my blood pressure naturally with the addition of natural supplements and flax seed snacks to my diet.

I grow that hibiscus for the same reason. I love watching all the colour leave the flower when I add the boiling water. I've also used it on my hair.
