What did you do in the garden today?

I remember a LONG time ago when John Travolta's son Jett had his initial, major life-threatening medical event. Long before he died... Kelly Preston (Jett's mom) came out publicly about all the chemical exposure our bodies are facing. Like literally in everything... Our food, water, air, soil, clothing, furniture. You name it.
We just do our very best to avoid those chemical as best we can, but we are expose to it in one way or another.

Oh my.

Alpaca update - I'm loosing #1. He hasn't eaten or had anything to drink in two days. He's comfortable, and not in pain. He's just slipping away.
#2 isn't trying to get up anymore, but he's also bored. Still eating and drinking. I'm not seeing him recovering, but will give him some time.

The others, and those above 2, just had the last of their treatments. I put a fence up around #1 (#2 is in a stall inside) to keep one of my big males from molesting him. The remaining 4 are out to pasture. All of them are a tad wobbly. I don't know if I got to them in time or not, time will tell.

This SUCKS.
I'm so sorry you are going through this. I haven't heard of these worms before. It's just awful.

Does all this mean you have to be scrupulous with scooping poop? Do you then need to treat the ground where it dropped?

the worms come with the deer, not the alpacas
I have NEVER even seen deer poo in the pastures, but the snails can travel on the own INTO the pasture, and can wash down from areas up hill where deer can get to. The worms and eggs are in the snails and the snails are accidentally eaten by the alpacas.

So there's no treatment of the area that'd be helpful or effective? What about spreading diatomaceous earth to dry out the snails?

My personal opinion is that a primary driver of the uptick in allergies, eczema, etc is all the artificial and toxic chemicals in our food supply, clothing, soaps, makeup, and cleaning supplies... Most people don't look at a label or even understand half of what is in an ingredient list (or how it was processed).
I think you're right.

Happy new years everyone, 12 seconds into 2026. trying to decide on any additional seeds to pick up for this year, I sill have a decent amount of seed from last year. I keep on thinking about getting chickens, doubt it will be this year, mushrooms most likely this year.
