What did you do in the garden today?

My mom is coming by so we can pick the rest of the apples. We're making Apple butter today. Yum yum!

I will plant today a Fig tree and a blueberry bush. Otherwise just watering the plants, thats it for today.

Started seedlings for a new crop of herbs (mine got a bit fried while I was on vacation... apparently "water the plants" doesn't include the indoor herb garden LOL) Made a 2 L bottle tower as a project for my kids to have herbs/flowers in. Finished setting up the aquaponics and got the seedlings transplanted for that. Mowed the yard yesterday, so today is weedeat and clean out the garden bed ready for a fall crop. YAY

Harvested the last of the tomatoes...

Not sure what to do with all my beans, will probably give them away. They are awesome though, Chinese Red Noodle is super long, never seen anything like that.

I won't be planting any squash next year due to my attempt to eradicate the squash bugs. Going to focus on corn instead. No more peppers either. I will probably have a ton of volunteer tomatoes next year though.

Cleaned out the last of the melons and the Tho. Jefferson bed. Tomorrow I'll plant peas, beans, collards, broccoli, and brussel sprouts and a few radishes.

Harvested more pumpkins and squash. Harvested corn for dinner tonight. Filled a basket with tomatillos, cherry tomatoes, red patio peppers, and green peppers. Enough to make a big bowl of fresh salsa.

FINALLY got proper fencing done round the veg patch, still a temporary gate but we're getting there!

Today I planted seedlings for some carrots, lemonbalm, and peas, planted in my passionfruit vines for my parrot, and then some more seedlings for my chickens to pick at (comfrey, nasturtiums, and "clucker tucker mix"). I'm crap at gardening in that I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, hate following the packet directions, and often forget to water, but I like to watch things grow (and sometimes die :S )

I've had a temporary gate for four years. It apparently isn't high on my to do list.lol
