What did you do in the garden today?

I bought a withered up Iris bulb from the discount bin at Walmart for a $. Planted it yesterday in a pot! does that count??? After peeling back the outer layer of dried leaves, I found at least 3 succulent growing tips. May have to go back later to see if they have any left. I'm a sucker for cheap plants. Still sprouting grains for the flock. 2' of snow here, with an other big dump scheduled for end of this week, and an other one for early next week. Oh joy!
I am too... but last plants I picked up for $1 were bushes... and I HATE bushes, SILLY ME! LOL

My berry plants came today so I cleaned out some pots and after soaking the roots for a bit I planted them in pots till this weekend when we can plant them. I also started a few seeds in a tray on my table it gets sun nearly all day. I think it was nearly 70* today! :) Cold front moving in tonight. :(

Still waiting for the snow to melt!

Yesterday, I finally built up the courage to deal with my budding vineyard. I let it get overgrown during last fall. I started 7 vines in Merlot and 7 vines in Riesling two seasons ago. Last year, I started 80 vines in a mysterious variety that I got from the roadside along a recently pruned vineyard in the central valley. I also started about 70 vines of Thompson Seedless. These are planted about a foot apart, and I, now, must dig them up and plant them in a permanent place – or perhaps pot them. So, I began pulling weeds away from the vines. I got to thinking about all those nice green plants and the barren ground of the chicken yard. A light goes off - Why not move the chickens down here in the vineyard?
Today, I moved 7 of our chickens into the vineyard. If they do well, I'll move the remaining 14 in there so that they can clean out all those weeds. The vines have a oody stem, and I am hoping the chickens will leave them alone.

picked up some seeds got some blue corn seeds excited to see and some other heritage indian corn.. I found some tulip bulbs I forgot about wondering if I can sneak them in the ground if they will come up this year still
