What did you do in the garden today?

Mind if I join in?  I'm gardening this year in a new climate and really feel like I don't know what I'm doing - so this will be a huge test year for me!

My whole life I lived in Southern California, and our last home had 7 kinds of citrus trees and I grew lettuce in the winter and tomatoes and peppers in the spring. Now I'm in New Mexico, where there actually is a thing called "winter" where we even get some snow.  I went to Lowes a while back and thought they were closing the store since the garden shop was empty. (Finally realized that you don't plant here in the winter so they don't sell plants in the winter - duh.) (LOL)

So this week we tilled up the garden area, incorporated a few yards of compost, put in the paths, had gravel delivered and shoveled into the paths.  Didn't get the rows & hills done though.  Last night we got a light rain so tomorrow we'll lay things out.  DH picked up 8' tree stakes so I can make bean/pea tepees across the back.

Oh and I got my incubator set up :)

I have collected my own pile of seed packets, which was quite fun.  Now to figure out how to proceed...

Welcome!!! Sounds like you've been busy already. I'm in zone 6b or 7a depending on who you ask. Lol. Been gardening here for over 30 years now and I'm still learning how to make the seasons work for me. Every year is an experiment in something.

And, that's why it's so much fun!

Welcome, Friday Yet. I still have 2+' of snow on my garden. Got seedlings up in the house. Just set 30 eggs today.

Someone forgot to tell spring it's not supposed to snow 4".....

Installed an indoor / outdoor temperature gauge in the greenhouse. Make sure it dont get to hot in there this summer while we are in the A/C.

Went out in the field and killed all the thistles.

I'm sure they'll be back - I don't like putting weed killer out as it damages the plants I do want as well as the ones I don't, so I just hacked them off with a hoe. I'll go out next weekend and do it again. (lol)
