What did you do in the garden today?

Planted peas and radish . Planted 40 foot row of ever bearing raspberry and 10 rhubarb roots . Planted my 50 seedling plums and 2 service berry . 1 white lilac planted . Now to relax .

Is it alway so harsh? Or is this a bad year?
Usually, the frost is out in my garden by mid April. This year, the ground has been covered since December. Once the sun hits the ground, the frost should leave quickly, since the snow has provided good insulation all winter. Yes, it's always harsh, but the last 2 winters have been exceptionally brutal.

I unwrapped my trees and checked them this morning. Some of them have buds that have already started to break. I'm not exactly sure what variety those are. Seems that the rest have nice tight buds still. I bought some huge peat pots, and a bale of Pro-mix, with the intent of potting them up this week. Since I have the slash piles to burn before I can plant, and the weather has been so unpredictable, I have no idea how the spring planting season, or burning of the slash will go. So, IMO, better to get them into some "soil."
