What did you do in the garden today?

Sigh. Our neighbors were mowing their lawn yesterday and did ours as well. Unfortunately he bumped our Honeycrisp Apple tree and it snapped at the graft point. Did our best to patch it up this morning. Hope it can survive.

Nooooo my peas, those rabbits ate my peas

Two things to try and both are pretty gross. Take a garden sprayer and put it in the bathroom. When you pee...do it in the sprayer. Put an unbroken line of pee around your garden ...not on the plants....around the garden. Redo every time it rains...Or get some fresh chicken manure and make some really stinky manure tea...strain it so it doesn't clog your sprayer. Put an unbroken line of stink around the garden...not on the plants...redo after every rain.

It always works for me. Keeps the critters at bay.

In the garden with my new hoe. Did a lot of weeding.

I took a regular hoe and cut it like a triangle so it comes to a sharp point. Did it at work. It makes short work on weeds..

Also bought some French marigolds and fertilized my squash.

Been trying to get the neighbor's TREE out of our yard, fell during a windy day, laying on the shared fence...chain sawing and clipper...was 50 foot high Fruitless Mulberry...got most of it from our side down and piled up...insurance company said it was an act of God and we have to pay for our half of removal, which is less than our deductible. Garden doing fine, lots of tomato plants, peppers, zucchini, squash, strawberries and hopefully pumpkins for the grand-cousins. Saves a lot of dough NOT to go to the pumpkin patch with them...cost me $28 last time, and two hours running through the patch. They get two choices...take it or leave it...sounding like my parents now. Get off my lawn!

That is wild. Will try it out if I ever have rabbit issues

I think i read it in Mother Earth many years ago to plant marigolds around your graden to keep rabbits out. Owl and snake decoys help. Glue a chicken feather to the owl decoy. Makes it look real. I had a rabbit issue last year. We planted marigolds around the garden different places. I don't know if it really works. I decided not to try peas or greens again. The two items they devoured.

We got a much needed rain last night- in the meantime i brought some cardboard home to use for weed barrier.
