What did you do in the garden today?

My grandson helped me move my woodpile today to make room for the coop and run! And I moved my compost pile and set up 2 more bins! It was bit chilly here today but nice in the sun!

We harvested some radishes today. Considering starting potatoes from a bag that I bought that has sprouted. I've never done this before so we will see how it goes

Spread cardboard in my aisles and am in the process of covering it with mulch we made last year. Then I'm going to rake pine needles and spread them around my blueberries before mulching. Need to start another tray of seedlings this evening. Also am going to top off strawberry beds with compost, send hubby to store to get more and mulch them. I covered them with straw over the winter and when I uncovered them they looked awesome! Tomorrow I may plant potatoes.

I have been trying for 2 weeks to get ants out of a large pot so I can plant some potatoes in it. I just poured hot water in the soil to try to kill the ants that are left in the pot. I guess I could through away the new potting soil I had just put in the 10 gallon pot and start over.

Don't you just love ants? I fight them all year. You could treat the dirt with permethin and use it for flowers. Then use good dirt for your vegetables. But I would still treat the ground around the pot to keep the ants away.

Ants have taken over our entire farm! We try to fight them.

I think my house was built on an ant hill! It's spring here, and they're sending scouts to my kitchen!

that's awesome, there was a pretty big movement in LA by urban gardners retilling the grass between sidewalk and street and planting veggies not to long ago too.
