What did you do in the garden today?

Quote: Very nice garden and very pretty fruit trees and honeysuckle.

Has anyone seen this before, most of my squash had a least one double set on it.

Yep. I get it all the time in my garden. Most often with squash, and raspberries.
Thanks. It was not always this way. We worked thru it and became best friends and partners in every aspect of life. I fall in love more with her every day.
Many in our current society are not aware that marriage is sometimes a lot of work, requiring commitment, and action when the honey moon infatuation wears off. Kudos to the two of you for working through the difficult times.

Thank you. Love is a choice. We made a decision to love each other and to stay together and make it work no matter what. It really came down to both of us deciding to put the other person ahead of ourselves. That is the part that the society we live in can't seem to get their heads around. When I put her first and she puts me first we both win. Not easy but worth it.

I went to check on my garden this morning and found out that the wild rabbits got to my collar greens. I'm so mad, now I have to go out tomorrow and by fence and post. More work then I wanted but if I want veggies, it's what I have to do.

You might plant a bunch of Marigolds too. I already fenced my garden to keep the chickens out, but if the cats are any clue, rabbits could get in there if they wanted too. I surround my garden, and allow them to volunteer in my garden. They are said to keep numerous pest, including rabbits out.

IMO, gardens are not complete unless they have flowers. I allow them to volunteer for me as well. But, I find that it's necessary to save some seed if I want to be sure I have plenty of volunteers the next year, as the chickens do almost too good a job cleaning up in the fall. I have volunteer calendula, dill, nasturtium. Even had some glads survive the winter. Unheard of in my zone. Also let lettuce go to seed. Have carrots going to seed this year. Parsley is also very easy to propagate. All of my parsley died off last season, so no plants to set seed this year. Will try my hand at harvesting some chive seed from the garden to plant in the orchard. Have some Egyptian onions setting plenty of bulbils which will move to the orchard as well. Garlic bulbils are also a natural for never ending supply of new plants.

Quick question! I have potatoes flowering, now I understand that the resulting seeds are inedible, but if I plant them do they grow into new potato plants? I do not really need seeds (getting plenty of old sprouted potatoes, it is more of a curiosity thing

There is a bit of a trend towards folks saving potato seed. I'm not up to speed on it, but am guessing that's how the new hybrids are produced. You can even buy potato seed from some companies now. They are started and grown much the same way tomatoes are. So, long story short. Yes! When the potatoes are in bloom, they have set small spuds. You can gently pull back the soil and mulch at the base of the plant, and rob a few new potatoes, while leaving the rest of them to continue maturing. Nothing better than those "robbed" potatoes cooked up with any other veggie your garden is producing at the time!

HEY DAN!!!!! NEW PROJECT FOR YOU. HOW BOUT PRODUCING THE NEXT NEW WAVE OF POTATO HYBRIDS???????
