What did you do in the garden today?

I love plums we planted 3 and lost 2 from the crazy winters here in AL. It warms up then a freeze zaps them. I am now worried about my apple trees and young pear.
They just barely lost their leaves and started going dormant. And yet we could still get some freezing weather that would kill them if the sap is still flowing in them.

Have you checked with Ison's nursery? They still had some Muscadines not to long ago. I was getting emails from them on their Muscadines.

Our weather here is about the same. Below freezing one week, then up in the 70's the next.

Getting the urge to start seeds . Maybe a few tomato seeds . I could use bigger pots for larger plants at transplanting time .

I've got a few seeds started. This is my first time starting my own seeds.



I usually just buy starts for planting. This year, I wanted to try to grow my own.



I've gotten my new fruit trees planted over the weekend. I've dug up my asparagus I planted last year and put them in their permanent bed in the garden. I need to get a few more crowns to make a second bed. I hope to pick them up over the weekend.

Punxsutawney Phil just predicted 6 more weeks of winter. Joy, joy.

henless your seeds will take off like crazy!

I like to start some seeds for faster results when it warms up a bit. But we also buy some plants when we get the itch. lol

Haven't done a lick in the garden today. Everything is buried under too many inches of snow and we typically can't safely plant outdoors until May. Makes for a short growing season.

I sowed some marshall ryegrass in my upper pasture. I have been hauling in horse manure and spreading it about three inches thick and planting grass on it. My pasture is finally turning green. Very litttle grows up there because of the hard packed gravel and rock up there. Finally found something that works. Weeds will not be a problem....more food for the goats.

@politicalcenter I think your goats are so gorgeous, wish I could get some but don't have enough space. I empty all the chicken poo in a big drum add water then syphon off round the plants it makes amazing manure.
