What did you do in the garden today?

My spinach, lettuce, mache, most all my greens bolted a week or two ago at least. Now they are setting seed and act as pollinator attractants and pest traps. Got a few in pots in deep shade, but it's been so hot so long they taste bitter anyway. Trying Malabar spinach this fall and next spring in hopes of having greens in summer.

Just gotta get through our Texas heat. No getting out of it.
Is Malabar the same as New Zealand spinach?
If so it grows nicely in Oklahoma and California so it surely should grow well in Texas. It is great in salads and I even canned it a few years ago. Need to get it started again.
I let my lettuce reseed itself and I transplant it along the edges of the beds or to the ends of the beds.

We hit 100 today. I have feed in the back of the pick-up that I will unload in the cool of the morning. Didn't get the beans planted because I turned into a sprinkler in the heat just tying up the final beds. Will do that in the morning too. I did move the mid aged ducklings (born late May)outside to a temporary day pen so they could swim a little and watered the plants on the deck.
A few ducks...7 weeks old...

The deck is where I can enjoy coffee in the morning and escape the heat a little...
I'm drying a few onions on the picnic table and enjoy both tropical and annuals. This is the area too where all my seedlings for the garden harden off before going into the garden.

Ours topped at 108 without much humidity. How's the humidity where you're at? I also enjoy the deck on cooler mornings for coffee.

It has been relatively high humidity with dew on the ground every morning. I think the humidity will become drier as the summer temps begin to climb. We had 3.5 inches of rain last week and none since. July and August into early September are usually dry and hot.

I had never seen one. And of course i got lost on the way home and missed it.

We got lost taking the kids to the zoo when we first moved here. Boy did we ever take the long way home. No gps back then. Incredibly frustrating drive with a 4, 5 & 6 year old. The only zoo we saw that day was in the car. :lau

It's not usually this bad. We've never had quite this much rain training over and over for so long. Texas has been in a drought, parts still are, though not as bad as it has been the last five years. So no, I don't even own a dehumidifier. I own three room humidifiers and two large "whole house" humidifiers! I am not prepared for this much humidity. Thankfully the air conditioner removes a lot of it. If I hadn't put in the French drains and pond drainage systems, we'd have likely had water running through the house, or at least the garage. We've had a lot of water in the past month, and the past two weeks have been remarkable.
