Is Malabar the same as New Zealand spinach? My spinach, lettuce, mache, most all my greens bolted a week or two ago at least. Now they are setting seed and act as pollinator attractants and pest traps. Got a few in pots in deep shade, but it's been so hot so long they taste bitter anyway. Trying Malabar spinach this fall and next spring in hopes of having greens in summer.
Just gotta get through our Texas heat. No getting out of it.
If so it grows nicely in Oklahoma and California so it surely should grow well in Texas. It is great in salads and I even canned it a few years ago. Need to get it started again.
I let my lettuce reseed itself and I transplant it along the edges of the beds or to the ends of the beds.
