What did you do in the garden today?

I have grown it . Depends on what you expect . It is small and seedy . More gourd like IMO . Shell does not get really hard . I tried it trying to find a borer resistant summer squash . Not your typical summer squash .

Hmm , not sure if I'm going to try it.

I happen to have grown up with the two boys that own the local garbage company yea they wanted 85.00 for twice a month pickup of 1 can of garbage 1 of recycle... dump 9 miles recycle free 2 month of not burnable one of the reason we have the old trash burner

Our county has dumpsters for residents to put their trash in free. Probably less dumping that way.

Anyone have any experience with Creeping Jenny? I bought several rooted cuttings in the spring, and used lots of them in window boxes, pots, etc. I actually still have about a dozen that I haven't used yet. I'm either going to plant them somewhere on our property, or put them in a large pot before winter hits and bring them inside for use next spring. My question is, are they really as invasive as some people say? I've heard different opinions on them - some people like them in the yard, and some people say don't plant them or you will be sorry - they will take over the area. Would appreciate any input, if anyone's had experience with this plant.

This stuff. It's supposed to get yellow flowers also, though I've not seen them on mine. Maybe only once it's established in the ground?

A quick net search indicated that creeping Jenny is quite invasive. If you can keep it in a container, and keep it from blooming, it should be controllable.

Why is it that the pretty ones are always trouble makers????

I have always had my feed in the coop and never had sparrows or anything but chickens eating the food or using the water as they are always been in the coop... I can recall when we through the feed out as a child many sparrows or others would be there for the corn mash..

We have sparrows too, but the starlings are hogs!

I have the same feed problem. Going to put a pop door on the coop and change the feeder I use for dry food.

Sparrows and starlings come in both the pop door and the door into the henhouse from inside the barn.

I now fill a tray in the morning and again in the evening in the outside pens with just enough for the chickens to clean up per feeding. Then they either free range or get an armload of grass and weeds from the garden.
Will try the treadle feeder....anything to save on feed bill.

I have 5 feeders for my 18 girls 3 for the 11 we made them from 3 inch pvc and elbows
sure saves on the feed bill I use 4 bags a month is all for 30 birds
