What did you do in the garden today?

I was master groomer learned a million years ago cannot hold a scissor now more than like 5 minutes
I managed a petsmart grooming department. Had my own in house place in Canada, plus a chain of pet stores. I think i ruined my digestive system living on Pepsi while i worked.

Yesterday I pulled some stalks from my lemon grass plants to divide them up some, I’ve got four really big clumps, probably close to 400+ stalks in each clump.
Starting pile.

Trimmed down to prevent too much water loss. Each stalk is actually 2-4 stalks.

Cleaned and seperated.

In a bucket of water to root. There’s 130 stalks in that bucket.

Nice, Dan. I made beet pickles yesterday. (Without power Monday morning - Wed. night)

Have a pile of garlic cloves ready to plant.
Thanks. It’s a real good bug deterrent which here in the south, you can never have enough of  And I don’t have to worry about spraying myself with weird chemicals and quite frankly it works better than any bug spray I’ve tried.

Awesome! (Not fun)
Nice! I need to plant mine.

Did not get the last tomatoes out of garden yet. Did let the chickens into the other garden yesterday.
Something ate about 50 apples from my tree in the past week. Was going to pick last weekend but they are all gone except one Granny Smith apple that an ant had started. I have eliminated the possibility of a deer doing it as they usually eat the leaves as well. It is fenced pretty well and they did get in once when I left the gate open.
Raccoons were stripping our pear and apple trees earlier this fall.

I really hate it when varmints help themselves. I planted 6 blueberry bushes today and they will be fenced in. I also bought 3 blackberry canes as well. 75% off people! Race to Lowes and load up! I only had the car, but i put tarps in the back seat and trunk and loaded it up. Bought enough to landscape in front of the house, some in front of the chicken coop and some near the goat shed! I will be sorry when i have to plant the rest of them.

And it could quite well be them. Although I’ve trapped quite a few I know there are more.

My thornless blackberries are doing well and the 4 slips are also growing. 2 to 4 inches of rain expected and cooler weather so things will slow down on growing soon.

Only got the necessities done here before it got dark. Water from the canal had been off for a few weeks so I’ve been watering by hand. Came home to the water on which is great however one coop was drenched as the hose that would normally be off was on. Really glad I had rubber boots on.
