Oh, I have always thought MN was way worse than here!! We got hit the worst about 2 winters ago, just get the snow cleared and another 10-12 inches arrived. A very tough year. Followed by a ridiculously mild winter. Normal is a thing of the past.I hear ya. It's always comforting to see the porch stacked high with rows of chopped wood. We put it out there in the fall for easy access to the wood all winter long. I've always thought Minnesota winters were about as bad as they come, but you guys on the East Coast have really been smacked hard by old man winter the last few years - much harder than we have!
My boys do the splitting, but done seem to realize the need to bring it up to the house for storage. I will have them do it of course, because I'm sure by the end of winter they will need to bring up more and discover trudging thru a foot or more of snow for 200 feet or more carrying only one arm full is VERY hard work......they will learn.
Both are hard workers and have been helping to clear the gardens. Pulling tomato stakes and stacking to keep dry for the winter.
