What did you do in the garden today?

@Nethielka
Well thanks for responding and good luck with them. Gardening is a bit different to animals in that your weather and soil conditions play into it and sometimes disasters happen.... like my peas last year. And there are some things that are easier to grow than others. You have to roll with it and diversify, so that the conditions that damage one crop might suit another. Some years I've had fantastic crops of beans and other years nothing. My Dad used to grow the most enormous onions.... like, the size of a football! I am gardening his garden but I'm useless with onions..... it seems I am very good at weeds though!;) You have certainly diversified with the plants you have started. I know Cambridge will be warmer than up north here but your tomatoes and melon may struggle at this time of year without the protection of being under glass I think. Cherry tomatoes are a good choice though. Hope they do well for you. I will be interested to hear how the melon works out.... you have motivated me to give that a go myself and since they like similar conditions to cucumbers from the bit of research I've just done, I'm quite excited about trying them.

Thanks for the encouragement! I have the tomatoes in a plastic greenhouse atm and cucumbers + melons in my kitchen :D I am planning to put them out late April/early May time so that they have at least a small chance of living through this. Weeds are definitely my favourite as well.
I am pondering if it is worth trying to grow peas but I am strapped for space as is...

Got two shrubs transplanted and watered in, cleaned up some wood to put in the trash and going for mulch this morning. Measured the last of the shade cloth and I have just enough to cover the west wall of the garden :woot
The rice flower I planted yesterday doesn't look like it's going to be a chicken favorite, very happy about that and the mesquite tree has tons of new growth too :yesss:
I found the metal frame for the shade for our old swing. Think I'm going to recycle that for a trellis of some sort so I rescued it from the junk pile.

Have a great day guys :frow

Found some twine, thank you Universe! Also picked up a rosemary plant today. No composted mulch :barniemore shopping at some point. I detest shopping.

I detest those pots picked up the 4 from walmart but will remove them from the pots

They're horrible I agree. I cut the top edge off the pot, the whole bottom too, then score the sides of the pot with a box cutter before I plant them. By this time next year I hope I'm using newspaper pots and seedlings I started myself.

Started emptying Frankenwagon today. He's going to get new tires and tubes, new tongue and handle and a paint job.

Here's the screened garden. There's a hole to feed the hose through so I can water with the door closed. The pvc is over a piece of rebar we used to pin the frame in place and it spins so the hose doesn't get into the bed or stuck. Next step is shade cloth and cover, then plants and sheet compost.
