What did you do in the garden today?

I was out watering the sod and the breeze this evening was just cool enough to make it comfortable. The patio area there is cooler in general, major win for us :yesss:
The watermelon has taken over the mound but the cantaloupe is doing great too. There are several tomatoes on both plants. I haven't closely inspected the zucchini to see if flowers are changing though. I'm thinking about my vertical options in the garden before next year. I'm planning to stagger plantings and add more variety by then.
I opened the compost barrel, ammonia odor is gone. I dumped my kitchen waste bucket and several old feed bags in. I think I'm going to add one more bucket of poop and a few more feed bags, then leave it to cook until the end of the year for cool season crops.
I'm adding another bag of raised bed potting mix and soil from the compost pile to the bed where I'll be planting corn this summer. I'm having good luck with this method so far and I need the feed bags and cardboard for the composter.
I hope everyone enjoyed their day.

Those 2 in we had so far made everything shoot Up... including weeds and grass. My earliest cabbage got huge and later ones coming along well. I think I love the way a cabbage plant looks as much as I love the taste. Potatoes of all stages doing great and zucchini got huge and new ones sprouted. Got blooms on blackberries already. It’s a little early but last week was in 90s all week so their confused. Red yarrow blooming and buds on my chocolate cherry tomatoes and giant slicers! Got another 2 inches since then so I’m hoping it doesn’t drown everything. Lettuce did drown but at least that’s it so far. Need to teach chickens to swim. Calling for rain and more storms till Tuesday.

My chickens need water wings as well! It started raining yesterday evening and the forecast is back to saying all weekend storms. We've got a deluge right now.
I managed to plant some red yardlong beans I found in the crisper drawer, a few pumpkin seeds, some more carrots (because I'm an optimist), more purslane, mini-bok choi, more edamame and a couple of eggplants. No one likes eggplant except for me, but I do and I think they're beautiful and it's my garden, so there. ;)

I’m trying more carrots too. Only 1/3 mine germinated cause of wacky weather

Something came and sliced head of 2 of my bok Choi. Didn’t even eat it just sliced right off. Messed up

Yeah, I'm going to say it was the whacky weather, and not my lack of consistent moisture. :)

Bok choi--I wonder what did that? For me, it's usually just something munching on the leaves.

Seems like whatever it was didn’t want to eat it just slice head clean off and leave it there. Kinda like he just did to be jerk. Lol. The bugs don’t mind munching in the rain. Hopefully when the rain moves out in a few days I can control the situation
