What did you do in the garden today?

Wow--you sure sound happy for 3 am, Igorsmistress! Usually if I'm up at that hour I'm fretting/worrying about something. Good for you!

Still raining here--argh. I have something like three different kinds of mushrooms sprouting and as far as I can tell none of them are edible. Sigh. I'm getting several zuchino rampicante squash almost ready to harvest. Those vines climbed the cattle panel like a champ (and the fence, and the hedge...) Have a great weekend everyone!

Yes, to be exact, then 50 km from Moscow. The nearest towns are Lobnya and Dmitrov. It`s a small towns, in the north from Moscow.
From here a buses and trains run to Moscow. If i go by train, it takes a little less than an hour (the train often stops). But I rarely go to Moscow, not more than once every six months.
I have 4 goats (girls) and one goat (boy).
My grandmother grew up in St. Petersburg and then went to the Netherlands with her sisters during the war. Her mother came to Russia after fleeing Port Arthur during the Boxer war. She brought with her, the only thing she truly loved, her piano!

wow. I tried to learn how to play the piano, but I did not have the patience. Perhaps this is because when I have a free time I'm already tired enough and i begin to be too lazy )) I'm starting to try to play too complicated tunes, and I can not do it. And when I play very simple tunes, it gets boring ))

(it`s me and my goats).

Today I canned dilly beans, mixed vegetable sauce and pluot jam made with sloe gin and orange flower water. Picked more beans, more tomatoes and more zucchini, some potatoes from the potato grow bag (I love this technique) and some purple cauliflower (which I am going to feed to the chickens because I don't like the flavor of it, at all!)
Today was our first smoke free day in a long, long time. Clear blue sky, temp in the mid 80's, absolutely beautiful! Life is good!:love

Never heard of this type... :idunno Do you like the taste of regular cauliflower??? I prefer the taste raw rather than cooked myself.:)

I dont remember the name of the variety, and it is really pretty and bright purple but it has a sulphury flavor that just doesn't do it for me. The reason I grew it is because my local farmers market sells some and that variety is great. Yes, I love cauliflower, especially either roasted or quick cooked up in a veggie/chicken stir fry. :drool There is also a bright orange cauliflower that is pretty good too but I have not tried to grow it yet. Maybe next year! Both the purple and the orange are incredibly rich in antioxidants, significantly more so than the white.
