View attachment 1536806 and I have to say that they are, without doubt, the brightest red apples I have ever seen. This pic. does not do them justice, I was absolutely blown away by the color!
My Galas, Morning Mist Fujis, and several other apples are just coming on for harvest.

They may take a little while now to get the trees back in to optimal shape but it can be done. Do you have some willing family, neighbors or friends who could help you tackle the job? My orchard is still pretty young at 8 years now with newer trees planted in 2015 and 2017 so really this years crop is the first 'decent' crop off the older trees. I am in contact with a fellow in California who owns a fabulous company that sell all kinds of heirloom fruit trees and bushes and he has walked me through the pruning of my trees to keep them dwarf enough for easy harvest and in good shape.
I love my orchard as much as I love my garden and my chickens. Oh, and my kids of course, let's not forget them!Oh and the hubby.....

Yes, I think you are absolutely right! I have not cut into one yet, I'm excited!

it is going to take a while the one tree is out of control and appears to have allot
rot in it that is in chicken yard ... one is laying on it's side roots half out the ground we have a pear tree we need to take the top out

Got hammered by Flo, pulled everything that we could feed to chickens just before it hit.
We had tons of tomato, pepper and eggplant still in pots because I had such good luck with seedling this spring and ran out of garden room. We put all the pots in the shed and by some miracle the shed survived so yesterday we repopulated the garden boxes with healthy, mature, blooming plants.

Small victory and it sure feels good considering the devastation here.

Got hammered by Flo, pulled everything that we could feed to chickens just before it hit.
We had tons of tomato, pepper and eggplant still in pots because I had such good luck with seedling this spring and ran out of garden room. We put all the pots in the shed and by some miracle the shed survived so yesterday we repopulated the garden boxes with healthy, mature, blooming plants.

Small victory and it sure feels good considering the devastation here.

I am so glad that you managed to weather that storm as well as you did! How are your chickens? I can imagine that it must feel good to be able to get something back to 'normal' after going through something like that.

I can totally relate. In going through planning for wild fire danger escape plans my heart would break at the idea of having to leave my chickens behind and lose my beloved garden. So glad it all turned out OK for you, but sorry that next door is not so good!
