What did you do in the garden today?

:barnieSo...the movie was over went out to dig my trenches out because the yard was flooding! All of a sudden I hear “WHACK”...I had a pole holding the tarp over the run (held up like a circus tent.) It ripped! The pole went thru the wire and the water was coming in...grab buckets, got soaked, my down coat weighs 100lbs!... got it all squared away. Kinda lucky tho that I was out there when it happened :barnie

OH crap are you alright yes it can be good to fix them fast huh
I feel lucky I was there. Half my run got wet. The water absorbed quick.
The visual I’m sure was pretty funny. I had 2 5gal buckets that I could barely keep up with. I had to run in and out of the run to dump them. I figured they weighed 45lbs each... in the mud I sank! I was cussing at the chickens lol. I have hardware cloth for the top of my run it’s on my to-do list this summer. Chicken wire just couldn’t hold the weight.
I’m gonna be sore ohhh... I already know it. But it could of been so much worse. Thanks for asking. :old

Hi garden gang,
I hope you are all hanging in there. Guess it is the dog days of winter for you all and we are sending some more moisture your way via the pineapple express. We had some brutal winds here, the likes of not seen in awhile. Trees going down, no electric.. the fun stuff. The good news is those tomatoes I never staked up rode out the 60mph winds, whereas the ones that were staked don't look so good. I have decided to pull all and start over in a bit... like spring time! The cage over my greens, though ugly looking, is working great to keep the fence hopping chicken scoundrels from eating the one thing that is not negotiable... my arugula. And I have enjoyed a salad or three this week, thanks to that ugly cage and even managed to scrounge a few toms out of the deal. Sending green and sunny thoughts your way...
