What did you do in the garden today?

I picked up some purple asparagus. I'll start it in a bucket and transplant it later. I might drop a brick of coir into some water today and get that soaking. I forgot to buy peat moss this week, so I'll try to get that when I escape the hilltop tomorrow.

Back from a grocery run . Walmart has the packaged bare root flowers and stuff . So of course I bought some asparagus , rhubarb , yellow hollyhock , tiger Lilly and Goldstrum daisy . Ground is still frozen but should thaw this coming week .

I need to check ours out to see when they start bringing things in. I want to get some extra rhubarb. The one growing in my garden is struggling. Need to plant in a different spot I think. Walmart has things reasonably priced compared to other stores near me.

I get it for a great price at tractor supply, if you have one close by. Orscheln home and farm too.

I'm a CITY SLICKER,,,
TS and other feed stores are not close to me. Closest is Farm and Fleet. That one is 30+ miles. When I do go there to stock up on chicken feed and scratch Etc. its usually a BIG $ BILL, so don't go often.

I will not shop at tsc personal we have 2 again the one shutdown by them is back up with the old man I mostly go to feed and farm Onalaska about 12 miles from us we have a good feed we are buying Morton store does not carry such neither does tsc

The way the forecast looks we will have a slow melting of this glacier encrusted ground. That's a good thing. I would prefer to avoid sticky mud. The main gate that leads to my garden is frozen in 16 inches of ice and that is on the north side of my property. So that will take some time to thaw. As soon as I can get to my garden beds I want to put plastic over the bed I am planting the peas in. That should thaw it enough to plant the peas. I will be building another raised garden frame with some of the pallets I got with my stove pellet deliveries to plant the leeks in. Today is the first day in quite sometime it has been above freezing. Yay! Planting time is coming. And tomorrow is the one year anniversary of the purchase of my Wee Farm. What an adventure this year has been.
