What did you do in the garden today?

Don't read this if you are really sensitive, but I've been on the verge of tears for a week for the animal losses of this flooding. Preliminary guess of 500 MILLION dollars of DEAD Livestock, cattle in feed yards, cattle in fields, and it's calving and lamb season, sheep, horses, chicken farms, Hog farms, etc.......There was just no time or means to move all of the stock and put it anywhere. Many farmers cut fences and hoped for the best.

Growing up on a cattle ranch I cry for losses, unless you sign up for email from them you cannot see the story

That is so very sad. I've been seeing the news broadcasts from the flood areas and it is just overwhelming.

My seedlings are doing well. My Roma tomatoes are up and out of the moisture dome. The cherry tomatoes are up but I'm waiting for the basil seeds to sprout before I move them. The romaine lettuce is sprouting as well. I picked up some heavy clear plastic sheets to put over the garden beds yesterday. There was a small report on an experiment in the Farmers Almanac about the best method for warming up the garden soil. Clear plastic worked best. It took 4 to 5 days to warm the soil up to 45F. So perhaps I can get my peas in the ground soon.Today I really need to focus on putting together a bachelor pad for my cockerel. The girls are laying very well even though having been ruffed up a bit. I've been amping up the protein to help them deal. So that's my goal for today. Have a great day. And @WthrLady please stay safe. Wishing you the very best in this tough time.

I know this probably belongs on the Funny Postings Thread, but thought it might cheer up some peeps here.
