What did you do in the garden today?

It was hot today. No clouds and 76*. I asked myself how do I ever work all summer! I’ve been out in triple digits but today was searing my skin and it zapped my energy big time.
I transplanted a wheelbarrow full of Irises ... I have too many!! Pulled weeds did some trimming hung out with the chickens then ... took a nap.

OMG! OUCH!!!! Looks like you need to take a bath in aloe. I really appreciate my Irish roots when it comes to the sun. I get pink, then just freckle. Rarely burn. I can't use most sunscreens due to chemical sensitivities so I usually wear a hat and long sleeves when I'll be out in the sun for awhile. Hope you feel better.

The sun won't be shining here for a while. The long term forecast is chilly in the upper 40's and low 50's and rain. Apparently tomorrow is supposed to be dry along with early Sunday, then rain all next week. I'll have to do the coop run extension tomorrow then hope for a good day to let my little BR's meet the hens face-to-face. And I really wanted a day to rest up. There's also a prediction of frost on Monday morning so I'll have to cover up all the little plants in the garden.

A cool shower and good lotion helped my skin it feels fine today, no peeling.
Spent all day outside and went back out after dinner.
Dug holes for Irises :duc
Still have a few flower/plant beds that need cleaned up so worked on those. I’ll get things just right...just in time for the weeds to start!
I haven’t started working at night yet (flood lights) my favorite way to beat the heat.

Sounds egg-citing, LOL! Hope they all arrive healthy and strong. The rain storms swept through here yesterday evening and most of the night. Barely missed the hail that blew in with the thunderstorms. The garden looks good except the little tomato and basil plants look a bit weary from being battered by downpours. We actually are getting a bit of sunshine now although it's windy. I'm not sure if I can finish the run extension today given as the ground is super saturated and that makes it hard to work quickly. I really want to integrate the chicks with the big girls. They are 6 weeks old now and crying to be let out of their "safe room." If I don't finish today I may do the face-to-face meeting tomorrow anyway.
