What did you do in the garden today?

This was the crime scene outside. Taken early. Got a total of about 3+ inches. It will all be gone Sunday.

I know I planted my garden early, however, I also have enough plastic to cover everything if frost is predicted. The forecast for Monday morning keeps bouncing up to above 34F, but I think I'll cover the garden anyway. Most of what I planted is cold hardy, but I have tomato and pepper plants that don't like frost at all. It was chilly and windy yesterday but I did manage to frame the 2 eight foot sections of the run extension. Of course I ran out of screws again. Another trip to the store. The baby chickens seem to be settling into their temporary home. When I went in the coop for the mid-day check up and feeding they were all "dust" bathing in the pine shavings instead of peeping their little heads off. I'm hoping to finish the run extension and let them join the big hens on Wednesday. They'll be 7 weeks old by then. I need to get this taken care of so I can put my herb and flower garden beds together and finish planting. This run extension is the last big project I will be doing. If anything else comes up, I have a contractor I can call.

Oh no! I remember one year, we had a hail storm in June and it completely decimated my garden. I was so upset.

It wasn't too bad, holes in a lot of leaves, a few small basils got broken. The hail was around the size of small peas.
Herbs are notoriously hard to do from seed. The two easiest I've found are dill and basil and even they take forever. Doesn't help that I look at them 10 times a day. :hmm

So sorry to hear about that! :hit The same thing happened to us a few years ago. The hail was about the size of ping-pong balls. It completely ruined everything, not to mention that same morning before it hailed, my mom and dad had just planted 35 blackberry plants all of which got 100% ruined and never came back. We were also planning on having a farmers market the very next day, but not anymore after it hailed!

I been outside. Still a lot to do but not as much now.
