What did you do in the garden today?

Oh I absolutely would love to try that ... one day. I’ve got so much dirt to work, Irises to transplant and HWC to put down that ... I just might get distracted and go vertical :lau I’m terrible.

Yea, like me and those lattice planters! I know what you mean though. I've been working this dirt for ten years and I'm not anywhere near having all the garden I want.

I don't have chickens! And my ducks think anything that isn't bugs or duck crumbles is Actually Poison (tm) I think they listen to the goats.

:lau At least mine would dig in mud puddles, even if they didn't like that strange looking thing that might jump up and eat them if they got too close (kitchen scraps).

Well, I was gonna weed the garden, but everyplace already seemed to have plenty, so..........

:lau Sounds like mine

My yard doesn't have lovely grass like yours where they'll go but I'll upload pics for sure.

How did you fasten the ends together? Wire?
Just wire. I do put a stake in the lower triangle on each side to secure it to the ground. Oh, thank you, yes the grass is lovely and usually easy to mow but the first mowing was really hard because the ground is like a sponge full of water. Also, the backyard doesn't get blazing sun all day that could fry it.

You mentioned not havi g space for pumpkins in another post. Have you considered going vertical? I've read that people have great results that way. With melons too, you just need a way to support the fruit while it grows.
Use the lattice. :lau

Good morning gardeners. I am so excited. The temps are actually close to normal for a change. The only rain was a short shower overnight and this morning is clear and sunny. The herb garden beds are resting and I will start adding plants today and tomorrow. Yesterday I (re)planted the tomatoes, planted the cucumbers and some romaine starts that I purchased. I'll be picking lettuce in about 2 weeks along with the early radishes. I potted up the rosemary and mint. I put them in pots so I can bring them inside to overwinter. I may do this with some of the lavender as I've not had any luck with it making it through our harsh winters. Have a great day and happy gardening everyone!

Good morning gardeners:frow

This morning is overcast and mid 70s, today will be the warmest over the next 7 though @ 92* It's supposed to be windy again this afternoon though.

I'm headed out to feed and water the birds and fertilize everything. Having every other Thursday off helps keep that straight anyway. I need to deadhead the hibiscus again and the lantana are looking a bit rough with the heat. I cut back one potato bush, it struggles during Winter because it doesn't get much sun and the chickens like to munch on it when it starts to take off each Spring :barnieThe bees really like them so I'm going to have to cage it yet again until it's tall enough to withstand the onslaught.

I was eyeballing possibilities for the lattice planters out there. I have one piece that's already cut in half so I'm going to put it together and gauge size so I know how many I can fit back there. I'm thinking at least 8.

Have a great day everyone :)

Make sure you take pictures. I really like using the lattice. It's easy to cut and affordable. I came up with the idea of using it last year when I was pricing out round raised gardens. OMG! The prices for some more conventional stuff like bricks and metal sides was ridiculous. I put one in the main garden and it is planted with spinach and turnips right now. I'm looking forward to seeing these 2 new ones full of herbs and flowers. Good luck with your planters!

Good Morning Gardeners :frow
Grey skies rain predicted to start around 11am. So I’ll be moving some pots outta the way.
This is my English Lavender’s 3rd season. The only survivor. Last year it bloomed these tiny barely noticeable flowers. I’m thrilled it survived another winter.
It’s about 14” tall now and growing like gang busters!
I’m excited :celebrate
Well...off to play outside. Have a great day y’all.

*Just thought about it...”gang busters” doesn’t mean what it used to. :old
