What did you do in the garden today?

Pulled weeds. I will probably have to pull out the zucchini and replant new ones. I think the 3 I planted have stayed too wet from all the rain and they are very stunted and look like they are dying. :he
Spent several hours after work digging out the culverts by the road and mailbox. No where near finished. They are full of dirt and weeds and saplings and poison ivy. I think I dug out some once in the 12 years that we have lived here. Also so worked on cutting back, digging out & pulling up invasive honeysuckle. Yes, I know just cutting it back doesn't work but I don't have anything at the moment to try to pull the bigger "trees" out of the ground. I was also burning a bunch of scrap wood, so all the invasive honeysuckle went into the fire too.

Are those your turkeys,,,, or wild ones out of the woods/forest???

These are wild turkeys walking out from my yard into my neighbors yard. They roost in the woods behind the house on the other side. Sometimes I hear their morning gobbling as the are jumping out of the trees. I thought about keeping turkeys but this is much better. They make me smile when I see them and I don't have to feed them.

Good morning gardeners. The alpacas are beyond cute. Yesterday I mowed the front yard and weed whacked around the chicken coop. I pulled another box of stuff the previous owner left in the potting shed and found ducks. I put them near one of the herb garden beds. I think they need a little paint because they are hard to see. Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning Gardeners :frow
Yesterday I dug into my wire compost heap.
:th= disappointment.
It was dry & barely decomposed...after all this rain?? I mean come on now...really?
After two years?
This is what I get?
I was so hoping I would hit pay dirt.
I’ve all but used up my tumblers compost. All that I have left in there is my “starter” portion which I cannot use because it’s the base of compost to come.
(Happy Enzymes)
So...I’ll plant something in the hoop when I’m done lol.

There's always a mama turkey or two nesting nearby, so this year at the edge of the creek in my neighbors field, there was a ruckus. Looked like someone's dog was attacking a turkey. After a few seconds of loud squawking and tangle of wings and dog, I realized the turkey was attacking the dog. Chased it 10 feet away. Dog slowed, she chased it farther, she didn't stop chasing that dog until the top of the hill and almost back to it's own house, a good 500'. I wish I'd had my camera out.

It looks real to me from a distance, almost like my old buffs. Make you do a double take.

Try adding some more dirt.

We have enough predators around here that the neighbors who do have dogs keep them secured inside fences. During mating season you hear a lot of complaints on television from people who live closer to Boston regarding the turkeys. You would think all the turkeys in New England converge on Boston to find mates. LOL!

G'morning gardeners:frow

I went out to water a bit and transplanted a rosemary bush to a pot out by the coop before work today. It's still nice and cool out there but I have the wading pool ready for the chicks this afternoon. I noticed that something has tried to get into the mini coop by pulling the hwc away from the wood at one corner. Glad the littles have been moved to the big house already.

We have some cherry tomatoes that need picking but I'm waiting until this afternoon so my grandsons can help. Then we'll bbq some burgers and maybe watch some chicken tv. We haven't seen them in a couple of months so it'll be fun.

Have a great day everyone:)
