What did you do in the garden today?

I did add calcium & organic tomato specific fertilizer to the tomatoes this summer but I suspect you are right & it wasnt enough. Its new soil this year so Im sure its lacking a few things.
I added ground up eggshells to my Romas so perhaps that's what helping them turn out healthy looking despite the condition of the plant. Not sure, just glad to be harvesting something.

Two of the really tasty melons from the garden

Soybeans! These plants produced the entire crop at once. I should have harvested them a week ago. We harvested more, as we've already eaten some. These filled 4 quart bags after we washed and dried them. They went into the freezer. They have a good/typical soybean flavor when cooked as typical in boiling salted water for 8 min (fresh)...a few more minutes if frozen.

This is what ONE soybean plant looked like 3 weeks ago - Packed with pods!

I added oyster shell I stole from the girls! I'm thinking not enough tho.

I only tasted a spoonful of the cherry tomato salsa as I was cooking it, I dont remember much heat & I added extra jalapeno. I will add more this time, or maybe a pinch of cayenne or red pepper flakes or something.

We added OS and gypsum to the beds and planting holes for the tomatoes, but they were still deficient! The gypsum will add calcium, but will not change the pH of the soil. Lime will add Ca+, but changes the pH which is sometimes needed. Next year I may send in a soil sample or two to have analyzed.

I ended up with a half full jar so I processed it then put it in the refrigerator overnight after it cooled. I tried it the next day and I didn't notice any spiciness but it was tasty.

Those are really nice melons @Acre4Me. I may have to figure out some way to plant edamame. They look really good. Congratulations on that haul.

Nice melons indeed! DHs family owns farmland in ND & when I was out there they had soybeans (& canola) going, thats the only time I've ever seen them!

I'm going to send a soil sample in next year. I wanted to give it a year or 2 of love before testing.

I went to collect eggs...

It's gonna be a scorcher out here in the Valley today and I'm taking my grandson and his friend to the aquarium about 90 minutes away. Hope my chickies and my garden will be OK.

I'll give everything a thorough watering before I go and hope for the best. I just planted carrot, radish and beet seeds a couple days ago. Hope they keep their tender little seedlings underground one more day...

I watered the garden for about an hour and 20 minutes. Thought it was going to rain, but it never did, so I'm glad I watered. I made "Peachy Keen Ice Pops today with a couple of the peaches and I took 8 or 9 up to my friends still teaching at the school I retired from.
Pulled up one dead cucumber plant, still have 3 others that are trying to produce more cucumbers! Picked a small handful of green beans and 2 cherry tomatoes.
I also pulled some weeds from the perimeter of the garden.
