Last year we built a hay form for an old fashioned hay stack.

The trick last year was raking up hay from the windrows before it's baled. We missed that tiny window last year.
Today i took 5 hours in unholy heat and humidity to load the trailer 4 times and pack the stack tight.
I was ready for load 5 when dh came home.

I was exhausted and decided i hated the dumb thing. We took 45 min to tear it apart and put it back in windrows for baling. Lol.

Here it is after two loads.

The funny thing was the chickens. They figured out the hay trailer and stack were both cricket and hopper dispensers. As i moved hay or compressed it on the stack, snacks would fall out! :lau

Most of the day I was with my Mom at her doctor appointment and then taking her to run errands. When I got home, my friend called and said he would bring over the tomatoes and through in a jar of home canned pickle spears to trade for the rooster! I wasn't sure I was going to be able to catch him, since it wasn't time to go in for the night yet and the tom turkey and the head rooster weren't helping me out any. But I prevailed and caught him! They brought me 6 pounds of tomatoes and the promise of more to come! After he left, I promptly turned the tomatoes into 2 pints of crushed tomatoes and 5 half pints of tomato salsa!

Good morning gardeners. Not much going on in the garden. I picked some tomatoes this morning. They are slowing down a bit now which is fine with me. Yesterday I cleaned up my basement where the new freezer is going in. Then I knocked down the wasp nest. I'm holding off on making and canning more tomato sauce until tomorrow. I saw a lot more tiny green beans forming this morning. The temperatures are supposed to be in the high 70's to low 80's for the next week so I'm hoping the warmer air will help the green beans along. I may get 4 or 5 butternut squash out of those vines after all. Not as much as last year, but I'll be happy with that. Have a great day everyone.
