What did you do in the garden today?

Good frosty morning all. It was 15F when I got up at 6 am, it has crawled up to 20F now. Good news, the storm that's coming is a two-part storm. The good part is there's a break between snowfalls so it will be easier to shovel and snow blow. But I'm ready, got enough gas for the snowblower, and the new driveway markers are installed. The lavender plant I brought inside is dying back. I guess if I keep the roots moist it will rebound in the spring, at least I hope it will. Not much else is going on. Stay warm everyone.

Good morning. I’m still waiting to receive my seed order from Sandhill preservation. I ordered during their sale, so am interested to see what comes.

I’ve been shopping online, and a little in the stores. No real need to shop during the craziness of Black Friday, and some good deals to be had online. But, haven’t really bought much. The adult child is pretty clear in their requests, so that one is pretty much done except I do send a stocking of little fun things too, so that needs to be rounded out. The kid still at home is requesting less, bc toys don’t figure into the equation so much anymore. Our Christmas tree should be going up sometime this coming week, and we add lights to a tree out front.

Good morning gardeners :frow

I hope you all had a great holiday! No shopping here. My kids are adults and my grandkids would rather get giftcards to buy what they want.

@karenerwin I would have done the same if I had family coming. I use the second bathroom once in a while so I can keep from scrubbing the toilet in there; did it once, that was enough. I'm happy you were victorious!

We had rain last Friday, more to come midweek, and temps are cool. The carrots are really growing and the mustard is doing great. I've snipped a few leaves off and fed them to the chickens. The tomato isn't doing very well, too cold I think, so I'm going to pull it this week.

I have 2 clumps of snake plant and 2 bushes to transplant next weekend along with the last oleander. Lemons, I have a bunch to pick as they suddenly turned yellow. Once that's done I'll be in maintenance mode until Spring.

Have a great week everyone :)

Good snowy morning gardeners. Ok, I guess there's an alternate definition of two part storm because it started snowing at 2:30 pm yesterday and with 12 plus inches on the ground now and still snowing. I shoveled around 8:30 pm last night to lighten my morning "load" but there was quite a lot of the white stuff this morning to shovel through to the chicken coop. The wind is blowing now so there should be some drifting going on. Since this is not supposed to be over until noon tomorrow I'm curious as to the final tally on the snow depth. Some snow blew into the run so the chickens will have that to play with. I rearranged the plants in my sunroom and dragged my artificial tree out of the basement. It's setup now but will decorate later. The little discount store I go to already has seeds out for sale. I was tempted, but I want to wait. I have decided exactly what I'm planting this season. I feel bad because when I was doing my snow storm shopping I forgot to buy wild bird seed. I guess they wouldn't mind a little chicken scratch and some bread crumbs for now. Oh well. Stay warm everyone and have a great day.
