What did you do in the garden today?

Good Morning, Finally drying out after 1 1/2 days of rain. The 18 month old golden retriever loves the mud in the back yard. I was able to get another layer of leaves on top of the vegetable garden on Sunday morning before the rain started. Now its time for thoughts of seed starting, and expanding the garden for the 2020 vegetable season.

Hi gardeners!

I need to catch up, but nothing happening in the garden except the seed catalogs are coming in. I got about a 30 foot piece of apron down on what will be the new chicken run in the spring. Glad that's done. Been planning the kitchen remodel, I'm going with a wood countertop too! I hope DH doesn't make me regret it, he's a slob & doesn't think before he does things so I'm a bit concerned with wood. I see coffee & jello stains and at least 1 burnt spot from a pot. :lau

Have a great New Years! Stay safe. :)

And I thought this little room would be so easy.

haha, a friend of mine on fb has been posting about their struggles with a small half bath they thought would be easy....sometimes those little rooms are harder than you think. Add in old wallpaper, and it is way more time consuming.

Just think, in a couple of years how many "stories" your countertop will tell!

My wife and I just got our first house last December in 2018. We repainted the entire house with most of the work being performed prior to move in. The bathrooms and halls were more time consuming than living room and bedrooms and such for sure. Glad I did not have to deal with any wallpaper, just waynes coating and some extra primer in the 2 bathrooms.

Hey @Farmdog267 was it an old house ? It was started in 1930 but made bigger late 60's current was in 80's..
Going to use a birch 1 inch for counters may just sand a corner down use a light stain then lots of oil to season for may years to come counters here are from the 60's

I'm working on the lower level bathroom today. I went into town and grabbed the new commode and line and the paint that I had forgotten.

The neon big bird yellow and old mauve is about to be covered with a lovely shade of blue. I've got all the cutting in done. Lunch has been eaten. I'm about to slap on a nice thick coat of blue. When that dries, I'll look for missed spots or thin spots (one coat paints my butt) and then when THAT dries, I'll install the light.

I have an antique 4 mile school bell in the barn yard. I can't wait to ring that sucker at midnight. This year it will be 23 degrees. Practically shorts weather for here. Last year it was -9 and in 2018 it was -23 and that was without the wind. I LOVE listening to that bell when it's still, clear, and crisp.

Tomorrow I'll work on the new wood floor and trim and MAYBE, if I'm not out of swear words, install the toilet, which will be met with much rejoicing by the boys, who have their offices in the lower level.

Still waiting on a seed catalog.:hit

I'm not much help with anything but the horizontal hives. Bee behavior is all the same, but the hives and their upkeep are totally different! But congrats!

Good Heavens the Flu, bronchitis, pneumonia, norovirus, all making for a brutal winter. Hope round two works for him @karneerwin
What type of honey bee do you have? I'm thinking of ordering the Italian honey bee.
