What did you do in the garden today?

OH I LOVE THOSE !!!!! What are they?!?! MUST HAVE!
I bought seeds at a local nursery. I don’t remember the name but I’m hoping they carry them again. There are other pointed ones around but these rock, don’t they??? I will google around and see what I can find. I’ll let you know!

Common names include Pointed, Hearted, Sweetheart or Hispi cabbage according to some quick research. I noted names like Cape Horn, Caraflex and Conehead.

Good morning, does anyone in the group have a hobby sized greenhouse they start seeds in or grow in for a whole season? How large is it and how has it helped or hurt what your growing? My wife is considering getting me one for my birthday so she claims and I'm trying to research to get something most appropriate.
Currently, I have a small 5 shelf portable greenhouse I use to start seeds in but thats about all I use it for. I'd love to grow some container veggies that are more dependent on a steady not to hot climate. Thanks for any advice. Stay warm to those of you in colder regions battling the January freeze!

Good morning gardeners. First, I need to address the cabbage: OMG it reminds me of the coneheads from Saturday Night Live. LOL! It might be worth growing just for the levity it would bring to the garden. Thank you @Sequel. All the talk about dirt got me to calculate how much I need to buy for the new garden bed. I'll need a little over 2 yards to fill that 4 x 16 foot bed and then I need a little extra to add to the existing beds and containers. Between hauling dirt and mowing the parts of the yard I can't use the garden tractor on I expect that should comprise my exercise program for the Spring and Summer. Another cold morning today. Temps when I got out of bed was 5F. It took awhile to warm up a it but it has just zoomed up to 15F in the last hour. Should climb to 25F today with lots of sun. I'm pretty much finished with the garden planning. I'm keeping the option of growing a few potatoes in a container. I have two containers that would work well, but I'm still a bit hesitant. We'll see. I don't have a greenhouse @Farmdog267. I've thought about it but anything outside is subject to being inundated by snow and ice even in March and early April. I have a nice sunroom that works well with starting plants. However, I do believe you may have better luck in your climate zone. Just make sure it is accessible during any weather "surprises" that may happen. You'll need to keep the temperature inside it warm enough day and night for good plant development. Time to thaw the chickens water again. Have a great day everyone.

I'd like one too. But with our winds, it would have to be a true greenhouse set in concrete and nothing would be in it in our winters. (down to -2 last night )

I have a dedicated area in the heated garage for seed start up that is lit and heated.

I'd love to have a small real greenhouse, but then there is the BIG hail we always get. LOL.
