What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. Back in the cold temps, again. Yesterday's storm hit early but it cleared out earlier than predicted as well. I only got one side of the new garden bed covered with lattice. It's 32F and very windy now, so likely won't be getting any outside work accomplished today. I do need to take some time and make a mask for myself today. The last time I went out I just used a scarf, but they are encouraging people to wear masks. My jalapenos and poblano seedlings are still struggling to get out of the dirt, but they are growing. I checked the bag with the seed potatoes and they seem quite happy and are growing inside there. Hopefully, next week I can get them planted. It appears all the daffodils I planted in the front yard are coming up. This makes me very happy. Hopefully my dahlia tubers are OK and I can get them planted out front as well. I have zinnias for that garden spot too. Have a great day everyone.

Here's my starts so far!
Tomatoes!

My Dahlia tubers are doing great! I think 2 are blue boy and the other I don't remember the name but it looks like fire and is huge and gorgeous!

Then I have sweet peas, moonflower, bibb lettuce, rhubarb swiss chard, green cabbage, red acre cabbage, and kale.

I also have a flat of zinnias and a flat of cosmos. I plan to plant some more too! I may till a large portion of the yard next to the barn and do a pumpkin patch. If anyone has any experience with that please give me some tips!
Happy Gardening everyone!

@BReeder! I think we are going to steal your idea of using the metal roof panels for the sides of a raised bed. I think I will have my hubby make 1 and then I will spend a year filling it with compost and dirt so that hopefully it will be ready to use next year! He is also going to make me a PVC hoop garden that I saw somewhere.
Our weather was awesome on Tuesday but we are supposed to get rain the next few days.
Do it! It works great. Just be sure it's galvanized panels or they'll rust quickly on you.

Several people have expressed interest in these beds. I figured I should share some info. 1 purchased 12'x26" galvanized corrugated steel panels. I then cut them to 4' and 8' sections with an angle grinder fitted with a metal cutting disc. This was a less expensive route than buying 8' and 4' panels. For the inside corners I use angle flashing (angle flashing link). If you make a corner with two 2x4s you don't need the angle flashing, but my design as 4x4 posts as corners and the dirt would have spilled out the corners without the flashing. I connected me boards to the 4x4 corners by toe nailing screws with a kreg jig. When framing, be sure there's a board across the top and bottom of each panel. Any lengths over 4' I would add a board up the center too (see pics of my beds and notice the board in the center of the 8' long sides). This will help prevent the sides from bowing. I also add wooden stakes over 1' long hammered into the ground outside the center of the long sides and a bracing board across the center of the long sides at the top. This prevents my boards from bowing as well.

Did you cut the metal panels with a circular saw? If so, what blade did you use?

Thanks NewBoots! My favorite is the purple hyacinth bean vine! They really are a show stopper! I plant them on the arbor entrance into my vegetable garden. This was my first year saving seeds from them and was so happy with the germination rate and was able to give the seeds to anyone who wanted some! They will make you some friends for sure!

Glad we are getting the deets on those raised beds. I'm also making notes! They are beautiful!

Do hummingbirds like those? I just looked them up online and they look beautiful! Gonna have to add them to my next seed order.
