What did you do in the garden today?

Aloha gardeners!
Another beautiful day here. Mid 80's high clouds... awesome.
I started my day out with watering the palms and soursop while chickens stretched their legs and then cleaning all of the waterers. I am going to town today and I am very excited about it. After ordering my incubator a few weeks ago (due on the 11th but who knows if it will show...) I called my breeder friend and asked if he could hatch out some of my eggs and he said yes! Problem solved. So, today I bring him 30 eggs. I'm hoping for a 50% due to age and fertilization.

I've got people calling me for compost and chickens just about everyday even though my add has been down for a few weeks. Almost exhausting but great people. I sowed some more, extra seeds for friends just starting to garden. Give a girl a bale of potting soil... :D I think it is time we all get in touch with our inner farmer if we have one and I will be encouraging and helpful in anyway I can.

Yes, the world has gone a bit nuts. DH went to the store to get TP and there was none. What is up with that??? We have been on lock down for 2 months and people are STILL hoarding TP?!!! LORDY! What a sh*t show. Good thing we have plenty of old T's if things get dicey lol. Glad I am on a remote island cuz it seems like things are going to get worse b4 it gets better. Stopping ALL flights to here would be awesome . Cept mail....

My mamma hen Rosie has gone insane. Has anyone had that b4? I can not find any info on it. She has been attacking my other hens and now she is even attacking me. I locked her up separate from her chicks as i will start the permanent separation. I need to friendly up the chicks so i can find them homes. I'm just hoping she snaps out of what ever she has going on. Normally she is low in the pecking order, sweet, smaller a lovely girl. Now she is absolutely bizarre, crazy and mean as all hell. I can not give her food or water w/o getting attacked. Crazy.

K. Gotta get- Stay well, get dirty!!!!

Heh, I'm not offended in the least! My old age super power is losing the word I want so I just go with it :).

I'm keeping all my left over seeds, I spent a lot on them and will cling to the idea I won't do the same thing next year! :gig

Weather is gorgeous today, in the mid 50s now and might get to 60 today. They're saying 73 on Friday. Oh, and rabbit poop is magic and the worms love it!

That's good, because I read asparagus TESTICLES and thought, WTH?!

Wait?! Chickens aren't SUPPOSED to be bat crap crazy?! They need a reason?

I’m assuming you have enough acreage to field these grains. Check with your local Agway or feed store. Also try speaking to local farmers regarding where they buy their seed. I would be cautious about buying these types of grain seeds online.

Thank you for that advice. I was thinking of buying online but I’ll try local farmers first. I’m just seeing lots of bare fields in GA lately.

Evening gardeners, been hot as all get out the past couple days. Sadly I saw my first vine borer moth yesterday and that means the end for most of my squash :hit
Such a shame. I'm not even close to sick of eating it so next year I guess I need to start more and start as early as possible. Just so frustrating.
On a happier note, I found my first Armenian white cucumber hiding in the foliage. Elderberries are flowering heavily. My red kuri squash and weird butternut have started changing color. First round of beans finished just as the second round sprouted. Time to focus on the things that like hot weather like melons, okra, peppers and eggplant.

@Halfpasthen you should add you general location to your profile. Clearly you are not in Ohio, like me where we are still having to cover anything outside for several more nights due to freezing! I'm zone 6a, so will hopefully plant in a couple of weeks.
I'll do that now, been meaning to. Deep deep South Louisiana lol. I'm behind a lot gardeners here too lol. I should already have tomatoes but I didn't really start much indoors this year. One benefit to a long growing season is you can just direct seed. I don't envy you the cold weather 🥶 anything below 60 is too darn cold for me lol.
