What did you do in the garden today?

Found the little beast! Tiny, less than 1/4".

Thanks for the encouragement, everybody. It's true, some years are better than others for whatever reason.
I can't wait to retire! Need to hang in there for 8-9 years or so.

Your path looks amazing! So creative! I love the variety of shapes and colors.

Very true, I need to keep remembering that many of us are not as lucky as I am to still be employed, and the reality that it could end any time if things get worse. After all, what's one bad gardening year? My freezer is still pretty full - maybe we should just eat up what we have and concentrate on other projects like the chicken yard. The only things we're completely out of, besides fresh salad ingredients, are pesto and sauerkraut, so the smart thing to do might be to plant just basil and cabbage and tarp the rest of the area. Maybe sunflowers and my dahlia tubers as well, just for some color in the fall. The garden might like a year off and make up for it next year!
Thanks for giving me some much-needed perspective.

Is that your son? Congratulations to him! I love the way you describe your community, the way everybody swaps what they have for what they need, and shares with each other. We try to do that to some extent, but you've really developed a good network.
That baby mule is super cute!

All I did outside today was basic chicken chores, then take a stroll with our elderly dog around the field, check on all the baby trees, and enjoy everything that's blooming. Lots of bumblebees working through the blooms, which is nice to see. Also lots of wild rabbits - I know for many people they are pests, but there's enough wild plants bordering our field that they tend to not bother our garden too much. The small amount they might eat is worth it for the entertainment when they bring their babies out to play - so funny and cute to watch the little guys bounce around and chase each other.
Not my son, a friend and neighbor young man I am very proud of. He worked hard and earned his diploma. Quite a few grads like to take photos at the pasture and he has a connection to my Hombre. He was helping me get some sweat under his saddle awhile back, I was trying to engage youth and giving him some school cash and something productive to do. Takes a village ;)
Yes, my island neighbors amaze me. Aloha seems alive and well in times of crisis or need. It helps those who do not know how to give and support a blue print so when their time comes to give they know how. It seems in hard times colors come out, i'd like my colors to be good. I was given a lot through my years, people showed me how.

Man those are boogers. Totally murdered the broccoli I'd planted. I'll give it another try in the Fall.

Good Morning Gardeners, re-potted the the bleeding hearts that I nearly killed through neglect. Once they get stronger I'll put them in the ground behind the greenhouse. Today I put out all the tomatoes! I really mean it this time. Well most of them anyway, anyone else have slow sprouting and growth with Wheatly's Frost Resistant tomatoes? Man, they are dragging their feet. And when the tomatoes go out, the various basil plants are going out too. Fertilized the greenhouse and deck this morning and it looks like the rain is going to hold off a little longer so I best get out there. Oh and does anyone else love the smell of tomato plants? That mixed with basil makes me swoon! :love

Good morning garden gang,
Just a few minutes b4 I go finish the brooder. .. DH is out for a ride which is good because he has been on a handcrafted/boat/utube phase. lol

Picked up small seedlings from gal and planted a few. Her selection was not as grand as I was hoping but I am happy with the trade and picked up things I would not normally- like Tatsoi, Russian kale, Chinese Spinach and Chinese Celery. Supposed to be heat tolerant go figure...

Still working on blending the flock. May have to separate Jazz from her chicks soon or just keep her cooped longer. She is a momster.

Other than a couple sickly seedlings, all the tomatoes are out of the greenhouse. Most are on the deck but got a few in the beds. Tomorrow I'll start setting up the cages as well. DP's sweet potato slips arrived in the mail so we got those all planted. Gave away more lettuce and a tomato plant to a gal who is giving me her used nursery pots.

Those are such cute babies! :love

Edited to add the picture of the planting deck. I always love other folks pics of their garden doings.
