What did you do in the garden today?

Other than a couple sickly seedlings, all the tomatoes are out of the greenhouse. Most are on the deck but got a few in the beds. Tomorrow I'll start setting up the cages as well. DP's sweet potato slips arrived in the mail so we got those all planted. Gave away more lettuce and a tomato plant to a gal who is giving me her used nursery pots.

Those are such cute babies! :love

Edited to add the picture of the planting deck. I always love other folks pics of their garden doings.
Looking great!!! 😍 Bravo @NewBoots!!

Sore and tired and still not done. Just a roof and 1/2 welded wire now. I think it is cute as can be and it should work great. I'm going to buy me some more of those cute white knobs one day for my coops. Nice touch.

Tossed in a bunch of Mango leaves in for the girls and gave away the 3 pullets to a very happy family who just built a coop and could not find any chicks. Yippee!!!

Windy with a high of 55F today, low of 50F tonight. I think planting will finally occur Thursday through Saturday. The rain was constant, and heavy at times. But, at least the volume was spread out over a few days. Yesterday the wind was out of the East, so it was an unusual wind direction for us. The 3 girls in the pen ended up with a fairly wet pen bc the rain was blowing in sideways through the slats. They had roosts and there was no standing water, and there was a large enough area for them to stay dry - the roof was not leaking, so it was just the blowing rain that was the problem. At least all the chickens get a dry day today!

I'll be picking up meat chicks tomorrow, so I should source some meat chick feed today! They are such hungry little chicks. I'll post pics of the chicks once we get them home. We will also be building a meat chicken structure. This will be 10x12, and will be able to be divided in half, if needed, and will have 2 access doors - 1 for each side.

Have a great day!

@Acre4Me I can' wait to see the chicks! I'm glad you're finally seeing a break & will be able to plant.

@TropicalBabies that was SO nice of you to give away those pullets! I haven't looked, but I've heard it's very hard to get chicks. I might be giving one away myself soon, the little meanie. & I look forward to your pics, I've never been there so everything is so different & beautiful.

@NewBoots I love the greenhouse & deck! Would love to see more pics of it...

Morning everyone! Beautiful day here. I took a vacation day so I can go pick up my half a cow & grab some San Marzano plants from a local farm. I had ordered online but they keep pushing the delivery date, it was at the end of June a couple days ago. That doesn't work for me with such a short growing season.

Have a great day all!

Good morning gardeners. It was 37F when I woke up this morning. Calling for the same overnight tonight. Good golly. I'm not sure if all the little plants I put in the ground are going to make it. Then tomorrow and Friday it's supposed to be around 80F. No rain forecasted so I will likely have to water the garden. I got the wood cut for the little chicken coop yesterday. Today is a shopping day. Then I should have the coop assembled by Saturday then get working on the run. My chicks are not fully feathered yet, but they are acting like they want out of the brooder. It's still pretty chilly on the front porch, around 50F and they are standing on top of the brooder plate squawking. I'm getting a bit concerned about my apple trees since they have not blossomed yet, or maybe I just missed it. No hard plans for the garden today, will see what I can get done while I'm hanging out with the chickens later. Love all the pictures @TropicalBabies and @NewBoots. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning gardeners. @TropicalBabies love that brooder! @NewBoots nice looking plants there, I love the little deck. No gardening for me this morning, I'm cleaning under the stove before the new one gets delivered later. I will probably work on the hole for MBOP at some point, our high is supposed to be in the 80s and our air quality is good. I started throwing scratch into the xeriscape garden so the flock will stir up the hay, they are industrious! Enjoy the day everyone!

Going to try to get the cabbages and squash in the ground today. The cabbages have mesh covers to prevent worm issues and the squash will have them for a bit until they establish for the wind.

I'll start the mustard in the potting shed today and the gingers.

Beyond that the coop needs sprayed down again, and I'll clean the old broody cages and winter panels.

That's the plan anyway.
