What did you do in the garden today?

I looked it up I guess some cheese is considered vegetarian. Not all though.
Just the tasty cheeses are considered vegan:gigMy DW is vegan 99% of the time unless I bring home the good stuff from shopping. Seriously bring home some Camembert and a baguette.... yeah its on!

I do miss living on the border with France.

excellent until you have to crawl in on your hands and knees to clean it. I do like the looks but I build coops for me and not the chicken I hate hitting my head on things.
It’s really not all that bad. I put linoleum tiles on the floor and I’m not all that tall. That’s where the “wee” in wee farmer comes in. :lau

hello everyone. i am new to this thread. i had a pretty productive garden before my son was born 6 years ago. this year i finally got around to renovating it. sadly the only thing that survived were a couple of asparagus plants (my husband enjoyed the spears i got from it this year), one sad black raspberry cane and a peach tree.

so this year we cleared out the jungle that had taken its place. i planted blueberry bushes, black raspberries, strawberries, garlic and onions this spring. we also ventured into chicken keeping. i am now the proud owner of 6 pullets (we got them at a few days old in April). about a month ago i added tomatoes, sweet peppers, carrots, beans, pumpkin, watermelon, basil, thyme, mint, oregano, and lavendar. i just started harvesting a few strawberries a day. i am super excited to get back into this.

pictures are shortly after clearing the jungle and today. it is still a work in progress.View attachment 2189493View attachment 2189494

Good... what ever time it is gardeners,
Super hot today but I am doing some hedge, tree, plants trimming and up keep. I went after everything like a ninja warrior but left my chopped rubbish laying where it dropped he he. I needed a water break but got recruited by DH to shake out tarps and measure lengths instead. I snuck away when he finished up folding last one and not looking... he he, I was feeding the girls and checking nest boxes for eggs when much to my surprise and delight...

Now, I don't know about you folks but I hope that this never gets old for me. My guess is it is from my little Loa. She has been bouncing into the nest boxes for the last week deciding which one she was going to use but I thought we would still have more time being she is a February 22 baby plus her comb did not redden but that may be do to scaring, and I thought she would have light brown eggs. Maaaybe the tiny wild girl laid in our boxes??? She may have a micro egg and she has just started to lay again after her hatch I think... 🤔 hmmmm. Well, whatever/whoever's it is... always a pleasure to eat... I mean see a mini egg.

The rest of the day will be pick up garden rubbish and fill trailer with green waste. Trying to stay ahead of the heat stress but lets face it... it's just not a beautiful time for a garden here in my town. Yesterday I washed a few cars inside and out, even washed my scooter ;). Got to bring my truck back in for a vacuum and wash and wax this eve.

Last night I put my foot down and told DH I was going to cook what I would like and that was it. So he had garden greens cooked with chicken and brown rice and I did not hear a complaint. Good man. I have slowly cleaned up his diet, gotten him off of the red meats and he has gotten healthier for it. No signs of the Diverticulitis or Ulcerative Colitis that he has had for the last 25 years at his last check up. That makes me pretty darn happy for him.
Ok. break time is over. Loving catching up on the many posts!!! Hana hou gang!!!
