What did you do in the garden today?

Ok wife and I discussed the Red Kraut thing further and we are settling on fermentation gear. Something like this or similar. https://www.rootsandharvest.com/product/855/crocks-weights-lids nothing terrible fancy and certainly nothing in the stratospheric price range. No need for that for a multi 1000 year old technology.
YUP. You can also get fermentation caps for mason jars too. And the weights that go in them :)I use the one gallon jars.
You can get the kind with a water seal.

Self burping.

or the ones with a little pump like this

I like option number 1 there. After returning from Germany in 1990 I was exposed to those types of water locks because I became my own brewmaster. I just had too I never knew how disgusting US beer was until that point in my life. Yep I fermented a few things.

Aloha garden gang, happy Sunday!
After the big garden trim it was time for me to get my truck washed so I could move it b4 mowing the lawn. DH is doing the mowing this time and I am on weed eat duty. It is WARM today.
Finished my repurposed teak corner table for my new incubator table/temp brooder- because R-com says to remove fairly quickly after hatch. I'll mount a heat lamp and put bedding of course. Good spot for this will be on our back lanai when I finish with my refinishing of the back lanai.... but... :th

I crushed the geezers out of my thumb and cut my nail in half caging this thing two days ago so all tasks from here on out are simply going to be a drag at least for awhile. Think if I super glue some paper on it i'll be fine while it grows out. Ugh!

My world seems like it is all about incorporating chickens and or being prepared for it the last few days. My older gals have really been territorial to the young ones and not letting them eat so that in itself has been a hassle. Babies are full timers in the mini coop now and are just a mess... and an absolute crack up.
Rosie should be emerging with her latest brood that I will take immediately and put in groovy brooder.
Harvested some bananas from sons yard, volunteer cherry toms are getting stolen by chickens . Guess I gotta be faster lol. Just some photos (cuz we love them!) from when I walked the yard.

I love your bird of paradise there, one of my all time favorites! I had one many moons ago but haven't made that purchase in AZ.

Those B.P.'s were planted in the 50's lol. Amazing plant for sure and I can see why they are your favorites. The poor things are largely ignored but come back beautifully. I'm a total sucker for the white birds, they make my heart go pitter patter. Stop and stare every time. :love

Wash your truck? I color matched my Wrangler to the dirt around here so we only need to wash the windows for safety reasons and only on occasion. The body of mine was probably washed last in 2017. Or whenever the roads flooded last so June 2018. Anyhow it still looks shiny enough for my tastes. @TropicalBabies

They are pretty!

OK.
I TRIED NOT to make eye contact.
I TRIED NOT to buy it.
I TRIED to leave it behind.
But I swear she was staring at me while I was in the market checkout.
I SWEAR she was actually talking to me when I put my last item on the belt.
I SWEAR she coo-ed when I put her on the belt.
I SWEAR she clucked in satisfaction when I put her in the truck.

It's a planter. I filled her with Leaf lettuce seeds to make her look feathery when they sprout. LOL.

I TRIED, HONEST I DID.
