What did you do in the garden today?

The latest, 9 total maybe 3 unsellable mutts. I took all away from mom but now I have to deal with these cuties in my already full house (will be adding 30 --- in a few days to my already 30++ now). Maybe I am just mentally overwhelmed at the moment and when I start unloading it will all go back to "in control". I am juggling fine room wise, feed wise and clean up wise all is great. I guess it is just my control issues... or common sense kicking in.

You don't need a very powerful one for raccoon or dog control. A dog will eventually learn, raccoons will always test you.
There is a switch to turn them on or off.
Wire, braided has areas that aren't electrified with each pulse.
You can get make a hinge loop for the gate that completes the circuit when you close the gate.
Don't worry about the chickens.
Don't put the charger in the coop, but yes, you can plug it into the coop.
You will want a ground rod, insulators, the unit, and the wire, and a source of power, either solar or electric. I also suggest people spring for a test light which hangs on the wire so you can see if the until is actually sending charge to the fence.

Raccoons also like hard boiled eggs.

So, we think raccoons are the culprit. My neighbor had the rest of his chickens taken last night - 4 of them.
We lost our little old dog years ago to a couple of raccoons, they get no mercy from me. I hope you get the boogers.
Since we can't all raise our own meat the best thing we can do is to try to purchase meat that is humanely raised as possible.
I completely agree. We're having trout tonight, caught it about an hour ago,
I guess we got one and a fox wanted dinner.
He probably thought you used strange take-out containers. :)

I'm sorry you have the new outbreak issues on the island. That has to be adding to your stress level. We are in a small town here and take comfort in the lack of exposure to the virus, but we know that all it will take is one person here in town to test positive and that false security will vanish. There are scary times and I figure having a small freak out from time to time is good exercise. :D

Went fishing this morning and caught a bunch of small perch that we fed to the blue heron that hangs out at the dock and the ospreys that dive for them right in front of the dock. Just finished lunch and now I'll go out and plant more green onions and radishes.

I finally have a flower on my okra!

Hope the bees can find them in the greenhouse. I wonder if shaking them will work?

The trout was great and even DP liked it and she normally isn't a trout or salmon person. Got the second try at radishes planted, ordered the airlocks for the sauerkraut, and got a free bag of chicken manure from a neighbor.

Almost ended up with the new puppy, a neighbor drove by this morning to show us the pup he'd just gotten from another neighbor. It's a border collie, pit cross and too cute to be legal. He offered it to us but we're just not ready for a 6 week old pup now (and yeah it's too young but there was no option to leave it with it's Momma). Oh my but it was cute and that sounds like a good mix, smarts of the collie and strength of the pit. Maybe when it's older and we see how it develops.

Nothing in the garden this evening. Hubby and I went out for dinner for Father’s Day. Last night I gave 2 Broody hens each 1 chick. The one I thought would accept the chick didn’t and the one I thought wouldn’t did. 🤣 So today when I got home from work I moved the other chick over with the accepting broody.
I was missing 1 of the 16 meat birds at lock up. So I went on the hunt. I finally found it at the back fence of the chicken run. It was underneath an overturned plastic oil collecting pan ( that I use as a waterer). It was up by the coop last night! 🤣🤣
Anyway I shooed the bird back up to the coop.

Oh, almost forgot that I wanted to ask, does anyone know anything you can do to encourage more female flowers to form on yellow squash plants? Out of the 6 plants (not pictured) I have 1 small squash and lots of make flowers
How old is the plant? How long has it been blooming male and female?
