What did you do in the garden today?

Morning all. Love the pics @AllenK RGV & @Acre4Me - the new shed is fantastic! I would love a new shed, lol.

@katiefloy so sorry about the greenhouse, I sure do hope you can salvage some. :(

Day 4 over 90 & humid. I put a fan in the coop for the girls last night, then fell asleep before they went to bed. I'm hoping they actually went in & weren't scared of it! :fl I picture them hemming & hawing & the door closing in the mean time.

Not much going on in the garden today, working & it's just plain too hot out there for me to do anything. Eyelid sweating is right!

Racoon saga:

We caught 2 last night. Neighbor caught 1, and two other traps set were sprung, but no coon. Other neighbor set an unanchored trap, which was sprung and flipped around a bunch - no coon. So, we've caught 4 coons so far and looks like there may be some more, so we will continue setting traps, as will the neighbors.

Just before midnight, and no one is caught yet, but they will be just a few minutes later.

Good morning gardeners. Yesterday was a treat, it only got to the mid 80's with a little less humidity. I watered the vegetable gardens really well. Still no rain. We have a slight chance of a scattered thunderstorm tomorrow, but it's going up to the 90's and very humid today. Ugh! Congratulations on the raccoon capture @Acre4Me. BTW: your gardens are beautiful. The feeling of despair when it seems like your garden just isn't growing all that well and then one day it's all beautiful and lush. That is a great feeling. Not much to do in the garden if you don't count the weeding in the turnip patch. I'll give it a few more days when the weather cools down. Today I think it is more appropriate to run errands in an air conditioned car. Have a great day everyone.

That's a lot of coons! Is the neighbor gonna get more chickens?

I have 2 more female fruits on my squash flowering today & still no males. Some males looking like a few more days. I'm just so impatient! It was such a slow start to spring here & I'm so behind.

No. Neighbor will not replace them. He had already decided to get rid of them this fall. It was getting too difficult to do the daily care for them in deep winter combined with a new knee that is better than the old one, but still creates some issues. He may go to quail...raising some in spring. Still, he’s not happy that coons took out his entire flock.

Thanks so much! I'm definitely going to try it - looks easier than I expected!

Sometimes I cheat if you do not mix the flour and milk before putting potato in
it will not firm up often two tblsp of cornstarch and cold milk will fix that
