What did you do in the garden today?

I do, yes, thanks. Actually need to pull it out and just keep it in my gardening apron! I'll do that tonight, actually...yes, this reaction is pretty much one step below that. It's crazy! Maybe instead of a chicken coop we should be building gigantic bat coops. 🦇 🦇 🦇

Seems like we are all in the middle of a heat wave. It's in the mid-80s here today, which feels downright cool after the past ten days! Of course that good steady stiff breeze helps, too. We are thankful for the break, believe me!

Those rabbits are so cute, @igorsMistress! Enjoy the birthday get-together! I hope you have *ice cream* cake. ;)
Keep that epi pen in your apron yes! I've done the anaphylaxis bit myself and it's scary!

@TropicalBabies, why do you prefer old towels for chicks?
Because we get everything shipped here across a big fat ocean, lots of space, lots of fuel and purchasing one less product just makes me feel better. It's the little things that add up to big things. It all helps ;) . Living on a little tropical island with the ocean rising changes a good souls perspective on things. Plus I can just shake it out to clean & reverse sides when I am ready and I am reusing throw away towels. It's like a win win win. :D

Aloha folks,
Been hot here but it is supposed to get hotter the next few days. Not much to do in the garden. I have, thanks to you folks, a bunch of peppers and blooms galore. I have never been impressed with my past pepper success and gladly opt out in the summer but you folks were going back and forth and I thought, heck why not? Very glad as this will be the best harvest I have ever had of peppers. Thanks for the inspiration- especially @AllenK RGV

Picked mangoes, papaya, tomatoes (just little bit cherries) and star fruit. Been mostly playing with the chickens. Made the littles a longer roost out of a pretty piece of Kiawe and the super littles have had 3 play days in the caged garden box. I also made the trek to Wailua to drop off 24 MORE eggs for incubation. The eggs I started are on their last week of turning, Saturday is lock down. I candled 4 on day 7 and 3 on day 8 because of power outage. I was 7 for 7 for spying movement. I may candle a few tonight for fun. Jazz should be showing up with her brood any day now. Bet they will be most all white with fuzzy legs 🤞🤞🤞

Bathed Hombre this late morning after a light work out. He had a rats nest the size of my fist in his tail that took some time to clean up and then i tied him out to graze and dry. Such a beauty and I enjoyed my time with him. My baby :love

Harvested the potato bed, then weeded, turned, fertilized, and turned it some more. Planted green beans, carrots, and beets in that bed. The beet package said to plant in Aug for my region, but I’m going to take my chances. The bean and carrot packages said to plant through July, so they should be fine.

The turnip seed replanting took! Many sprouts, so I’m happy about that. These are the smaller/sweeter type eat raw or cooked.

The gourd plants are so.very.slow.... I thought they would take off with this heat, but no such luck. I fertilized them, which helped.

Last year the pepper plants on my deck did very well, and the garden ones did only so-so. This year it’s the reverse-my garden ones are doing very well and the deck one’s only so-so.

Cooler and rainy today, but I’ll take it!

Have a great day gardeners!
