What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. Welcome to the thread @drstratton and @sourland. What a haul indeed @karenerwin. I see the mountain of tomatillos and think of all the salsa verde I could make with that. Woke up to another cool morning. We got a thunderstorm before midnight. Mother Nature has provided a nice long drink and everything is greening up nicely. I dug up a few potatoes this morning, then picked the blushing tomatoes as well as a nice little haul of green beans, an okra and some hungarian peppers. The melons are so, so tempting @Acre4Me. I pretty much skip the produce section of the grocery store (only go there to buy onions & lettuce now) because I know I'll be tempted by the melons. So yummy, but so off limits. Busy, busy day but not in the garden. Laundry and company for lunch, then start prepping peaches for jam. I might sneak in some tomato sauce this afternoon. The red ripe tomatoes are piling up. Forgot to mention that the chard I planted last Monday, I think it was, it's now coming up. Yay! Have a great day everyone.
Thank you for the welcome! Sounds like your garden keeps you quite busy! I would like to skim through this thread, but I think it would take a very long time!

Hi IM! It can leak a little at the ends, but it hasn't been an issue. This stuff is like drip tubing with built in emitters, you can have it on the surface & you can also cover it with dirt. When we hilled the potatoes and corn...we put the dirt right over it. It does an amazing job, you will really like it, especially if you combine it with the landscape fabric! It's so much better than soaker hose!

Edit to add: I read your question again & misunderstood it the first time. It drips pretty evenly all of the way to the end!

I agree. A good drip system has made a world of difference. We put it in the orchard too. One side line for each tree. Now I can water while doing other chores.

@NewBoots that's why I plant those purple dragon green beans! I can't FIND the damn beans on the vine! Now if they'd only come out with construction cone/cheeto orange beans... :lau

mowed all day yesterday and staked up trees that out grew their britches this spring. The neighbor baled his hay last night, and another neighbor started a burn pit, so.....allergy meds at 1030pm to breathe it was. Was wide awake until 330am. So I updated the blog until the meds wore off. I couldn't breathe, but at least I could sleep.

Off to wash a million giant windows. Have a lovely day all.

below Mattawa

I’m familiar with that area-I spent a year at the National Lab doing work on the Hanford site, beginning at Priest Rapids Dam, and along the 50 miles of the Columbia River. Very Dry, but very pretty (to me). However, also some pretty impressively scary and large spiders...

My husband worked at the Hanford site before we got married and then he got a job with Grant Co PUD and worked at the dams for 35 years...he just fully retired in June! It is a very beautiful area! The spiders at the dams are horrifying! They didn't bother my husband, but I worked as a fish counter one season and was on a night shift...one night after I came inside from clearing the grates, I looked down and saw a huge spider on my shirt...needless to say I had a total meltdown! I was exhausted, it was 2:30 am, I didn't care, I called him in tears and told him I hated this job and I hated spiders...I really didn't hate the job, but I did hate the spiders...:gig

We took the boat out on Friday and put in above Wanapum Dam...the opposite direction of where you worked! We started at Vantage and drove up to Crescent Bar to get some pizza! It's a beautiful stretch of river!

On the way to Crescent Bar!
