What did you do in the garden today?

lol I think I can get rather unexceptable... I have sailor blood and construction worker blood and drive (a little) truck. All the prerequisites for a unrestrained mouth, I def need to work on edit. :gig
Oh please, you’re fine. I think we can all relate on one level or another. I was about to blow my gasket at my mom for even considering going to my sisters for the holiday. My dad is 90, has had pneumonia and valley fever at the same time and is a kidney patient. It’s a good thing she didn’t push it! Let’s not get started on the rest of the population lol.

OK. On a more positive note. We are ordering the roofing materials for AJ's roof today as the plumber finished and we yanked the old solar off yesterday with the help of our kids (yes, we all wore masks lol). So, that is awesome. Temps have cooled and it won't be hideously hot as heck installing the new tiles. 83 – 72 Lihue, Kauai w/ 15mph trades. Very nice.

What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving? Me, cooking and dropping off plates of the basics.
Most of the usual good stuff but staying home. My duck eggs are due to hatch that day.

Morning . Going to share our covid experience . We did not get seriously sick . Just really tired . A thin watery runny nose early on . Some coughing . When it broke we both slept or rested for 24 hours . Then it was gone . So everyone I have talked to had similar symptoms . So not serious for most but deadly for some . I have been more miserable with a cold or flu in the past .
So happy to know it wasn’t horrible for you guys! A few of my husbands coworkers had it just recently. One had an experience like yours and the said he was really sick. I guess it just depends.

Good afternoon gardeners. It has been a busy few days but not much doing in the garden. I did get the dirt put in though, now I just need some cooler temps to come along and then I can plant more stuff. Record breaking heat for us again this week but at least it’s not triple digits!! Everything else is doing fine, including the oleanders. Finally!! The willow acacia is buzzing with bees and I can smell it when I go out the back door. The aloes are putting out pups like crazy so I need to pull those and both of the artichokes are doing great. No sprouts from the garlic, carrots or lettuce yet. I still have the two duck eggs in the incubator and decided not to hatch another set. If the sellers ducks start to lay again it’s getting too late in the season I think and so I’m going to email them to cancel my order for now. I need to get caught up , have a great afternoon all!
No more ducks?! How sad... I love our ducks.

Holiday plans? There are just the three of us out here in the boonies. The rest of family is 800-1200 miles away and we rarely see them in person anyway.

Just another day here.

Worked like a crazy woman outside all day. I'll spend the whole evening knitting. I have two more great cowls to finish before Friday morning.

I have prairie weeds in the garden. Their roots go down 10 feet. smothering doesn't work. Weed fork and persistence is it.

Hey all!

I use mulch on my beds too - it's usually straw (the no seed kind) & leaves. This year I've got a cover crop growing.

Thanksgiving will be me, DH, my sister & her 3 kids & their SOs. My parents & my brother & his family are staying home. We're all trying to quarantine as much as possible before then. We'll do the usuals, turkey, stuffing, taters, etc. I'm making a pumpkin cheesecake with gingersnap crust. :drool & bread.

I had to run to BJs to get a few things, they have limits back on things again & they were very low on tp, paper towels, napkins, etc. But I managed to get most everything on my list. Didn't look like any meat shortages there & prices were normal so that's good.

Have a great day!
This was my recent shopping experience as well. Paper towels in abundance but no TP and hardly any tissue, cleaning supplies were scarce and there were limits on most things.

That's sounds like a nightmare. It reminds me of the elm I cut down last year in our front lawn. It is actually sending up shoots all over the lawn from its roots. The tree was about 30 feet tall, so its roots spread quite far. I just keep pulling what I can and mowing the rest over. I'm hopeful the roots will die eventually if I prevent leaves from growing.

I still have two eggs in my incubator due to hatch on Thanksgiving day. I ordered 3 ducklings too though that will ship the week of the 30th. That’ll keep the babies all close in age and I won’t have to babysit the incubator.
