ON a separate note, my garden is quite a ways from any buildings or water source. Right now I am using 4 or 5 hoses to get water to the garden when I need it. I"m thinking about setting up a couple of these DIY collection systems as a supplement.

Yeah, I'm definitely considering Early Girl. They are the old fashioned standby, hearty, proven as reliable tomatoes in the greater Ohio Valley Zone. Early girl is what I would pick if I had to pick of the two.
Cherokee purple was hit or miss for me as well as the Krims when I lived in Ohio.
UhhhWelcome to the thread.
You have a long growing season so 2 applications about 3 months apart . Pre emergent stops seeds sprouting but wears off in time . Glyphosphate - roundup for weeds that did not die in winter .OK here is a dumb question. When or should I put out pre emergent weed killer here in east Texas-near Dallas. A lot of weeds do not appear to have died yet although the grass is brown. Or should I wait til March and put out a general weed killer?
Sorry, I thought you said this thread just shouted out to you. Sounded like you were new to it.Uhhh
