What did you do in the garden today?

Thanks! Sounds like I should wait a week and try again...they kinds just wanted to pull out of the soil, not bring the soil with them.

Bought some large pots today. Going to try to plant a few decorative things in the back yard in them...hoping the dogs and chickens will leave them alone if they're a couple feet above ground level. :fl

Have decided not to plant the coffee bean pods. Everything about the tree is toxic to livestock and pets. So...nope.
You can't put it in front of your house as an ornamental or something? Fresh home grown coffee is a really neat idea.

My toms are looking a bit pathetic since I transplanted them deep yesterday to let roots grow from the buried stems. They look healthy though. I'm really proud of my peppers. They are doing very well. Almost every seed sprouted. I had to thin out the extras already. I think they'll be ready to repot by the weekend. The starter cells I used for the peppers are pretty small, so there's not a lot of room for roots to spread out. I think 4" pots will work for the peppers for now instead of big 6" pots like I used for the toms.

The thyme and spearmint are disappointing. They have not sprouted at all. I thought there was a thyme sprout, but it's just some sort of grain that must have made its way into composted steer manure I used. I wil need to replant both of them.

And I almost forgot to mention some great news. We are expanding the family. This little guy is scheduled to come home in 2 1/2 weeks!

:D Guess what? I’ve never germinated a seed before, but once you guys told me the “why,” I tried it with a store tomato. Today I have growth!!!!! :wee Too bad I don’t have potting soil. I’m hoping the soil I have in a bucket outside works. I remember it’s part potting soil, but can’t remember where I got the other stuff from.

Is it an heirloom tomato? The seeds from a hybrid may result in just about anything and not all the results would be a desirable tomato.
