@alfie10, I planted onion sets in between my potato plants. I had the BEST onion and potato harvest ever. I don't know if it was cause and effect, but I will be doing it again this year.plant onion sets and potatoes
thanks for info on what to plant with beans ,think i,ll try some beetroot with them .It,s been a few years since i did a veg garden, really getting excited hoping i get a good harvest ,i really got sick of buying veg last 12 mnths especially! potted up some courgettes ,purple broccoli. also butternut sqash which i have never grown before .got some more compost spread and dug in so if it,s nice at the weekend i think i,ll plant onion sets and potatoes .going to get all my pots cleaned and ready because if all my seeds come up i,ll be running out of space .
You guys have had a lot of nitrogen falling in your area SarahGood morning all. I did a walk around the yard yesterday. The little daffodils in the backyard are definitely popping through the dirt as are the ones in the front yard cutting garden. The temps were above freezing this morning so I'll try to get into the main garden and check on the asparagus bed later today. My tomatoes are growing finally. I ordered the frames for the row cover so I can start the cold loving crops, lettuce, kale and cabbage at the end of next week. I'm so looking forward to warmer temps so my rosemary can go outside. Both pots made it through the winter but in spite of using humidifiers they still look dry and tired. My bay laurel is barely hanging on and I'm not sure if it will bounce back. Rain is supposed to move in late this afternoon or evening then change over to snow for a little while. More nitrogen for the garden.![]()
Glad you’re ok there! Did the storm actually knock down your greenhouse or did you take it down to prevent damage?Doesn’t appear to be any damage here from last nights storms. Some family south of us lost 3 big trees but thankfully don’t have any house damage. We were under warnings twice but it appears that both times they lifted just before they reached us.
A lot to do today. I’m behind on the chores in the house. I also need to plant those raspberries, finish the fence, and put the greenhouse back up. I also have to untie everything I strapped down in the coop.
