I checked my “garden” (last years flower & herb beds) to see if my garlic was ready to be pulled...not yet! I was pleasantly surprised to see that my potted echinacea is coming back beautifully so far. My mojito mint & peppermint are strong, and I had to pull out lots of mint that had “escaped” their containers. Need to till up my L-shaped bed that spans the front of the run. Ugh, weeding & turning the dirt is NOT my “thing”. Thinking about making a spot somewhere right outside of the run to place a 4’x4’ raised bed. AKA: Chicken Herb Garden. Lots of hopes & dreams, but a bit short on ways & means! For now, I’ve got 40 sunflower seeds (4 types), that I’ve got in starting soil & eggshells that I can’t wait to plant around the coop and anywhere in the yard that they’ll thrive (as far as I can tell, they’ve all already germinated!!!)...sunflowers just make me happy! Not to mention, my girls will love the reward that comes after the beauty fades!

62 degrees,but the winds are howling.
I spent the late afternoon and after lunch trimming alpaca toe nails aka, being spit on and kicked.
I had one that just would NOT cooperate. So after an hour of pleading with him, I let him out to play. I ordered his calming drops and will try again next weekend.
Transplanting the extra cloudy day tomatoes today, and starting the San Mars.
We also decided where the greenhouse is going and in a bit I might go out and dig some post holes and get that going.

Happy Spring everyone! It’s a nice day here if a bit warm. Just got done with the duck pools, going to run to the pet store for feeder fish after we get milk. I’m digging a hole for the lilac bush and mixing some bunny poop with worm castings with the soil that I’m going to backfill with. Not much else in the garden right now. I had to tell my daughter that I’m not going to co-sign for a newer car for her right now so she’s not speaking to me and my FIL is in the hospital for some reason and was in ICU yesterday. Not sure what’s happening with him yet, hubs is talking to my MIL (his step mom) now. His mother had a bad fall not too long ago and that has put her in a wheel chair, so apprenticeship she’s no longer a nice dementia patient and has become quite vicious. My SIL is arranging to sell the house and put her in a home because she’s a lot to handle now and private care is too expensive. It should be ok to see her through, it’s two blocks from the beach in Huntington Beach and four blocks from the pier. Hubs is falling apart, having some really bad days with his knees lately so we’re hoping he’ll be ok until we have insurance. When it rains it pours I suppose. Anyway, sorry to ramble, have a good day all.

First nice day of the season! Got a lot done. Got the new compost bins built, so much more sturdy than the last. & Wide enough the tractor bucket fits! I have 2 big bins & a small, half bin on the right to stack my browns that will get layered. Everything is still frozen, but workable enough to move it.

Got the lettuce planted & the hoop tunnel up.

Got a few things popping up on the south side of the house too!
