What did you do in the garden today?

Falls are scary. I always lay there a second waiting to see if I'm actually hurt or just embarrassed. :)
I'm quite bouncy. Fall down, immediately bounce back up. But I only fall when ice is involved, so it's more a slow slide down than proper fall. Usually land on my butt or hip where the most padding is too. I'm not allowed to fall down until September though.

I think today I'll try planting a fresh basil seed, see if it comes up better than the one I've been watching do... pretty nothing for two weeks. Also want to get one or two squash and cucumber in pots to leave here for the MIL as a, um, surprise. Lol.

Poor cat, she seems to have a broken toe. Took her down to the vet today, they looked her over, said it was either broken or dislocated, but either way best treatment is rest for a couple of weeks. She's young enough still that trying to get her to sit still is hard, and she's quite springy under normal circumstances, so it's off to the master bedroom with pain meds and accommodations to keep her calm and napping a bit more than usual.

Could get her a toe truck to get around in. Feed her Toemato's and toestata's, im sure she'll feel toeriffic afterwards.

Careful on the pain meds, had a neighbor that had a cat and somehow it got addicted to the meds and they had all kinds of issues with it. Yes kind of funny sounding, an oxykitty but I guess it could happen to an animal just as easy as it does to hoomans too. That Oxycatin is very addictive.

I cut some more stakes today. I’m done for the day though. Nature decided to fight back apparently I have a sunburn now and I got poked in the eye with a twig.
Ouch! Are you related to Ralphie?

Soooo... I got the Moderna shot in my left arm. My left arm feels like...

My right arm. Honestly, if I didn't know I'd had a shot, I wouldn't know I'd had a shot. The actual injection site feels like a very slight bruise.

But when I got home, I found out my next door neighbor is going to get chickens!!! So I spent the afternoon talking about her coop plans, etc, etc, etc, etc! Next thing I know, it's 3:30.

So I didn't get anything done in the garden. But now I have a built in chicken-sitter... :clap

DP wants a couple turkeys and I'm tempted but we lack the room.
We have the 10x10 open air pen, completely predator proof with a roof. These are bourbon Red turkeys, so not as big as the white commercial ones. We bought 6 poults hoping to keep at least 3 alive. If we keep more alive, even better!

Good afternoon gardeners. I checked on the recent transplants and think I’ll give them all a sip of water before bed, it’s hot and the wind is supposed to pick up again tomorrow. I’ll be setting an alarm to get up early so I can water the veggies before work, a week between watering is too long I think. I still have a stack of pavers in the garage to move outside and place for another set of stairs for the ducks, but need to make a trip to Home Depot for a couple things to finish that off. I have a little succulent in a pot that I want to put in the shade near the pool and then I’d like to find a shrub to plant out there near the pool too. It has to be safe for ducks and buns so that might take awhile to locate just the right thing. My hope is to get the mini coop converted to bunny house and add a run. I may put down some sod over a partially submerged barrel for an underground shelter as well. I’m still in the design phase on that. Anyway, the ducks need clean water and would probably enjoy a mud puddle or two so I’m headed outside. Enjoy your a fall!

Got all of today's transplants and seeds done.
Built one shelf unit for the greenhouse.
6 loads of laundry done and folded, just needs sorted and the bed made.
Got a pound of bacon baked. Going to make a simple bacon parm cheese pasta for dinner.

After moving 62 bags of WET heavy mulch, my arms are STILL noodles from yesterday. It's ridiculous. It's like someone stripped the muscles off the bone and put them back on wrong. Ever since that stupid shingles shot...ugh.

Sigh. Doesn't keep me from going though, stuff to do.

I need to think about how to keep the greenhouse warm if I'm going to move some of the stuff from the seeding area to the greenhouse. The end of next week will get down to 32 and 50s during the day.
