What did you do in the garden today?

The whole coop is covered except for the chicken door and when the windows are open on hot days. I watched it go back in through the chicken door this afternoon! I think I will cover the windows too now though since they will be staying open at least during the day. No idea what to do about the chicken door though.

burn some cloth around the door. snakes avoid ashes.

I was thinking mothballs, but did you know it’s illegal to use mothballs to repel animals? Apparently a stray (predator!) cat can eat one, and die. You are allowed to use them if you keep them inside of a sock. So, that is my suggestion. Try putting it in a sock. A stocking is too thin and allow the dust out.

is there any law that protects people and their animals? the same laws here.

I love animals and I would provide feeders for the wild ones so that they don't need to kill livestock to survive.

@TJAnonymous hanging out to see what the city says
More rain yesterday, more today.
I need it to dry a little before I can mow.

It's foggy and damp, and not a hint of a breeze. Revolting.
And DARK. LOL.

Waiting on the siding man too. I need to pick a color for the peak area of the front of the house. The brick is deep mushroom browns (mottled) and the siding on the house is tan. Even on this spot in the front which just stands out weird and distracts from the front door. So as long as they are replacing siding on the end of the house, I'll have them replace this smaller section that I could never reach to repair if I had to, with a color I like better.

Well naturally I wouldn't want to kill any innocent animals but realistically how would the authorities know you were using moth balls as a repellent?

There's other things you can use as well like Snake Away. You can also Google natural snake repellent
I used Snake Away in my yard after a yardman said he was bitten by a snake- was a brown garden snake, not a copperhead, thank goodness. The only place I have seen snakes since is in the water meter hole and under some landscaping bricks on the side of the house that I am moving. UGH!! I hate snakes:duc

Good morning gardeners. Not much going on now. Shopping and lots of driving pretty much wore me out yesterday and I was still recovering from the work I did the day before. I pulled a few more radishes this morning and thinned a row of the new ones emerging. I need to go back out there and thin my curly kale. The plants are sizeable enough to be microgreens so thinning should yield a small bag. There's a few more green bean plants emerging. I'm giving the corn plants another week and if they don't grow I'm planting a lot of pole beans. No rain in the forecast for now so will be watering in a couple of days. At least the grass growth is slowing down a bit.
