What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. Finally planted the marigolds this morning, thinned a row of radishes and gave everything in the big garden and backyard a good watering. I do need to water the front garden after I finish my coffee. The lilies I planted are coming up nicely. I still need to plant my jalapenos and ancho chilies in the front yard planters. Perhaps this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Going up to 90F today and tomorrow. Too hot too soon in the season. I plan on using the grills for the next few days.

Morning all.
Allergies are trying to lay me out. Now that I am vertical for the day, they're draining and choking me as fast as I can catch a breath. Ugh. My eye burned and were sticky when I went to bed last night, I knew it was coming.

I set the plants out last night, so planting today is an absolute.

Cutting mat came for my giant table, so I COULD sew today as well. We shall see.

I have finally joined the nasal rinse club. It’s making all this pollen more manageable.

Out in the garden right now. Trying to prep for vacation. All pruning is done. Turned compost. Weeded and hilled up the tallest row of potatoes. I need build an outdoor duckling pen, do some more weeding, and water the garden later (i didn't get out early enough to do it this morning).

Sorry about those who feel forced to sell their homes and move. Whether it's neighbors, finances or other circumstances, or is never nice to feel forced to leave a place you call home.

Just came back in from garden. Wind snapped 6 tomatoes off at the base that I had sitting out last night. Luckily, a short walk to the greenhouse and an easy fix.

All 60 plants are in the ground. I just scuttled hole to hole only standing upright at the end of each row, winded. Now that I am back inside, I'll cool off and go shower. Tylenol taken, and ugh, draining. OH my poor ears ache too. Spring is brutal, but it's better than winter. LOL.

I just have dill/mustard seed to put down. Corn starts to pop into holes with the beans, and some sunflower starts to get in. Later.

Dewpoint is 70 and temp is 73. DRIPPING out.

OH and I learned a trick by accident. Last year out of laziness, I cut my tomato plants off at the base to toss the tops at the end of the season, but again lazy, left the stumps in the ground all winter. So before I could prep the beds this year the stumps had to come out. I was dreading it as they can take a LOT of dirt with them, the roots go on for feet and it's just generally a struggle. But it needed done. NOPE, easy as PIE. The small roots had composted over winter in place and the stumps came out with no effort at all. My new preferred method. LOL.

Got the tomato bed nearly completed (only needs some supports added for the cages. Onions, carrots, marigolds all added to the tomato bed and watered.

peppers planted last night, cages added. Might add the 4 extra marigolds I didn’t use in tomato bed.

4 turkeys still alive ! liking their pen.

8 week old BJG chicks need integrated, they are in a pen in the run, but haven’t allowed intermingling yet. But really need to.

regarding moving under duress: yup, us too(twice). Once due to noise that would never be mitigated. Major Airport MILES snd MILES away, but they took on new cargo/freight company several years after we moved in. So, 6 days a week (not on Sunday) from 2am to 5 am fright take-offs every 3-5 min for those 3 hours, perhaps not 50+ aircraft every day, but it was baaaaad. .OMG... anyway, we lived too far for mitigation, and no one to fight for us. Was better/cheaper/quicker/ less frustration to pack up and sell to move.

another time we rented a duplex. Awesome landlord. Was hoodwinked by tenants next door, on best behavior when interviewed for the rental. Sadly, bad people used to working the system so as to not get evicted. So, we ended up moving. Not as bad bc it was a rental. But still forced the decision sooner than our choice.
